Default HELP! OEM 97 Lip needed

A freind of mine recently acquired a CW 97 ITR. On the drive home we came across a retread on the freeway and it took out the OEM front lip . Could have been worse . Since I was behind the wheel I feel horrible and am looking to obtain a replacement for him. Let me know if anyone can help me out on this.

Factory replacement is $400 already painted. Comptech is $200 I believe however they use high grade sticker compound instead of bolts/screws to hold it on (2 screws on the end). Maybe I'm confusing it for the WW lip, but I think thats what it is like. Its also not painted.

Very hard to find piece.

Here's a quick shameless plug ...... we're in the process of making our own urethane lips, and one of them is going to be the "97 US ITR / Comptech" lip, at about the same price of the shitty abs plastic lips, and at least these will fit and be durable. With the problems that Wings West is having (who supplies Comptech), we're stepping up making our own molds and making some urethane lips. Should have some within the next month or so.

my gf did the SAME EXACT THING with a tire tread on the way to the track. we came over a rise in the road and she hit it dead on. the lip broke in the middle and is lying somewhere on the way to willow springs raceway. here's what i did:

option 1: buy OEM lip new (len's price $319 + shipping); mike riddick @leith acura ($360 shipped to CA from east coast ) it's painted and ready to bolt on. i just received mine from mike and it's PERFECT. i kind of don't want to put it on b/c it looks so nice right now.

option 2. buy a spoon carbon fiber knockoff from user "lonnieboost" --he just quoted me $280 shipped to CA. don't know about the quality or particulars.

option 3. leave it off. i've been running w/o a lip for the past month. MUCH easier to navigate driveways and speedbumps. yes, it does look like an LS...with a couple holes on each side where bolts used to be...oh well.

eddie.
