Dunlop SP Sport Inferno Drag Radial
Was at HIN last night and saw this tire on display at the Dunlop booth. Never new about it until then, and decided to look it up at Dunlop's site. Anyone use these yet?

LAS VEGAS, Nov. 3 – The hottest new tire to hit the track is a DOT radial drag tire from Dunlop, known as the Inferno and emblazoned with leaping flames on the sidewall.
The Dunlop SP Sport Inferno is a competition drag tire that also is street-legal, allowing enthusiasts to motor their high-performance machines from the street to the track.
Viewed from the side, the Inferno sports a wild “racer” look, with the image of flames climbing across the sidewall. The treadface view is consistent with the side, as the tread pattern is equally eye-popping. It consists of directional, sweeping grooves, which optimize treadlife and maximize the tire’s longitudinal (straight-line) performance.
The tire, available in a 205/50R15 size in the first quarter of 2004, has a tread compound based on the Dunlop drag racing slick. The InfernoÂ’s outstanding traction compound delivers consistent launches and quarter-mile times.
The tread, carcass and nold shape were fully computer-designed. It also comes with a rimguard feature that helps to protect expensive aftermarket wheels.
“Targeted directly at the sport-compact drag segment, the Inferno is a head-turner in a segment that just about seen it all. It requires something really unique and high-demand to get the attention of this crowd, and this tire is sure to accomplish that,” said Mike Pulte, Dunlop’s manager of extreme performance.
“As radical as the appearance of the Inferno is, with its flaming sidewall images and distinctive tread pattern, the technology below the surface is really what will fire up this crowd. It’s also a great track-side complement to our SP Sport FM 901 tire, which is Dunlop’s street version for ultra-performance on sport compacts.”
The SP Sport Inferno will be available from select race tire distributors. Additional information can be found by visiting http://www.dunloptire.com.

ummm interesting. about a year ago, i was interviewed by this company about my car and what i like to do with it. they asked me about how i like to drive it, how do i determine what wheels/tires i buy, ect. Well anyways, they video taped everything and paid me $125 to talk **** about my car. Then they told me they were doing it for DUNLOP tires because they were trying to get into the import car market. I knew they were gonna come out with a drag radial because I told them all my friends like to run slicks or BFGoodrich and Nitto 555R drag radials.

I use these on my daily driven beater street car. It is a 90 civic wagon, b20/vtec supercharged/intercooled. So far, I am not impressed by this tire, but then again, I run them at 25 psi, so I'm not sure that I should expect a whole hell of a lot.. I'm betting that if I run them at a much lower pressure, they might hook up.
Anyway, since I don't have 60 foot times, or run the recommended pressures (whatever they are), my post isn't of much use, so take it with a grain of salt..

I have had the drag radials for about one year now. Dunlop sponsored me and wanted me to try them out, so I used them at the Battle of the Imports in Orlando Florida last year.
Pretty decent tire and is DOT approved for street use. Out of the box I was pulling 2.1 60'. Not bad, but I made the mistake of not launching higher. They hooked pretty hard, but it takes a lot to warm them up, so get ready to do a 2nd gear burnout.
Overall, I like them better than the Nitto NT555 R's that I was using prior to these. The Nittos were a lot heavier and harder than the Inferno's. However I feel that the Nittos will last longer.
That is my $0.02

Hrmm...I wonder what your opinion on the BFGs would be?...

Well, guys, I'm in the market to buy drag radials now.
Question is to go with BFGs which has been used again, time after time.
Or to try out the new Dunlops which have been out for awhile, but no one is really trying them out.

Look at the wear ratings....
BFG's are good for race only night and OCCASSIONAL street use, other than that, people that have used them wear them down to the cords in a short amount of time in daily use.
They are the best PURE radial for a FWD applicationm until the Hoosier's have been used....
The Dunlops are between the Nitto's and BFG's. The Nittos are no longer available in 205/50-15 or 225/50-15, but Dunlops I believe are.
They would be my choice for daily use and a run down to the street on Friday Night.
Work on your suspension as I'm sure the tires will hold sub 2.0 60ft times...

Your best bet to go fast is 26x9.5 Mickey Thompson radials and a JDM final drive if your gearing is going to be too short with the 26's.

the radials are excellant tires. a buddy of mine bought the tires at set and went 12.88 @ 109 with a 1.88 60' on his all motor eg. Another friend pulled a 1.81 60' on his k20 eg. afer seeing them pull that off, they seem to work very well.
