The R is gone, but it's a home run...
After having my pampered, (14K) low mileage R for sale on autotrader since january I was starting to get discouraged. All I was getting were lowball offers and clowns wasting my time.
I refused to let the car go for a low price, and I was totally relentless about my asking price. Started @ $23K then lowered the asking price to $22.5K. Now the asking price was only a reflection of the ballpark number I wanted, I never intended to get more than $21K for it. The offers I laughed off were the ******** that would call me and offer $16K or show up to see the car with $17K ready to buy it "on the spot". I'm far from being hard up, and waving a bag full a cash in my face isn't going to make me sell my f*cking spotless! garage queen ITR!
While other R owners got many more miles of enjoyment out of their cars and racked up 12 to 15 thousand miles a year and still sold their car in the high teens was a thorn in my side, since I averaged 3500 miles a year and never tracked the car either. I had reached the point of not wanting to sell the car. I was like f*ck it! I'll just keep it, and enjoy it. I was ready to pull the ad and call it a day. Even one specific Acura dealer kept harrassing me to sell it to them, until I finally told the manager to take a walk, I refused to sell it to them at some lowball insult and watch them turn around and sell it for $23K or so.
Well, my luck changed last week. I received a call from a kid who sounded like all the other guys that had called me. Asking me tons of questions, and talking a mile a minute. He then asked me, "what's your best price"? My reply to that was, "do me a favor, come look at it and then make me an offer", "if you dont buy it, I'm pulling the ad and keeping the car".
Earlier this week he came and looked at it, and we struck a deal. He was the first person that truly appreciated my near brand new ITR and realized how much the car had been cherished. I let the mirror luster, swirl-free black paint, spotless interior, and, immaculate engine bay do the talking. So he asks me what it's gonna take, I calmly replied $22K, not a penny less. He turned and looked at me and said, "you've got a deal". This morning he came and finalized the deal. I'm gonna miss my R, but holding out for $22K feels dam'n good. And I'm sure I'll find something in the near future to replace the R with that will make me just as happy.

Best of luck, glad it all worked out.
Too bad you never tracked it, you would never have sold it!
BTW, for those who don't know, his R was truly a clean garage queen in the best condition. I remember comparing my car to his last summer at the BBQ and wishing mine still looked as good as his.
We'll get you out there one of these days
And you're still always welcomed. Good people are good people no matter what they drive.

I hate lowballers ... which in part might explain my reluctance to sell stuff.

I'll buy your stuff, I just won't pay as much as you want

when i bought my R with 28k, it was pretty flawless and a garage queen. the previous owner claimed it had never been driven in the rain and it had a spotless undercarriage as well as a engine bay so i was sold. the car did all the talking.
i really wanted it, which was probably to my disadvantage to show it, but i got it.

thats great man at least you cherrished and enjoyed the car and still got as much as u paid,, or almost as much. Guess u cant lose there. And if you plan on getting an s2k shame on you! no s2k can be nicer than a garage queen itr!
good to see you sold the car for the price you wanted, sounds like it was in perfect condition. Good thing the guy appreciated the car a lot, but he was a sucker(more or less), because he paid almost what you paid for the car brand new. They went for ~$25k new right? and the guy paid $22k for a 5 year old car (assuming you bought it in 99) with ~15k miles on it, thats completely insane you got to drive it for 5 years for only $3,000. That's a sweet deal for you nicely done.
Try finding one that clean with that many miles for cheaper than what he got. It all depends on what the buyer is willing to pay. Seems to me the buyer got what he payed for. I payed the same for one with more miles than that and I don't think I got suckered at all. Like I said it all depends on the person buying.

Glad the you got what you are selling for!
I think it deserves the right price.
On the other hand, I always wonder how you could possibily enjoy the R without actually driving it?

yep, this is what we need to keep the value of our cars high, its one of a kind car and should not be sold for cheap!

That is like saying a person buying a 1966 pristine, low mileage, restored Mustang for more than $3K is a sucker. Market value drives the price of things not the actual "worth." The ITR market value is between $16-$25K (yes more than original price) depending on condition, mileage, etc. etc.

sad to here it's gone but glad to hear you got what you wanted for it.
I can also vouch that it was in close to perfect condition, pampered is an understatement.
hopefully the new owner will also take good care of it

Thanks Anton, David, Edwin for the kind words. As far as tracking goes, I plan to track the mazdaspeed which is the most capable FWD currently available in terms of chassis dynamics, (SRT-4's straightline hustle not withstanding).
I don't know where people got the idea that I was getting an s2k, but I've got a family to haul around. And in all seriousness, I'd take my mint R over a stook. But that's just my opinion.
First priority in line is closing on my new house in about 45 days, then I plan on getting an STI for a multitude of reasons. Since I dont plan on modding the car, it offers the most bang for the buck and reliability of any car in its price range.
EVO's have become service department nightmares for many people, and although a better tuner car than the STI. When left stock, the STI's indestructible drivetrain and capable chassis/brakes make it a winner in my book. Not to mention acceleration/braking numbers that rival a Turbo Porsche for 1/4 the cost.
I'll still be and active member of this forum and a member or R speed, so you'll still see me around.
