just picked up my ZX10R!!!!!
100mph in first gear is bs... better get the speedo fixed... by the way, if you just got the bike, did you bother to read how to "break it in"?

READ cycle world,, sport rider, or any other bike mag and they will tell you as well. its 184crank hp and 163whp. and after 12k on the tach it only drops to 151whp. smoking the gixxers and the 1000rr's, AND the R1. the R1 was the closest nipping at the 10R's heels in the tests. haha 100mph bs you say? i dont think so. but since your a hater, you will be skepticle
A hater? Do you even know how to ride a bike... I can't wait for your story about how you went down, crashed, etc... have fun, I'm sure you know that bike speedos are off from actual mph too killer, but that doesn't matter, I'm sure you just bought the bike because it was written up with the faster 1/4 mile time or highest hp... typical.

There was free dyno day at a very respectable shop here in san diego. An o4 R1 with just a two bros slip on pulled out 157HP to the wheel. A zx10-r came in an to everyones surprise was only able to put out a whopping 148HP. Wierd huh. All bikes vary dependingon break in or simply just freak motors.
No doubt I'm sure its fast, but 100 is a feat of its own... my friends gsxr 1k does about 84 in first, but another 16mph would be tough... and here's what i read...

congrats on the ZX-10, my next bike is that or the R-1.
But don't hate on the R-1,Gixxr, or the 1000-RR...You've got a nice bike, but it can't handle as well as the rest that have a damper, slip differential...

Nice bike!! IMO, you're still talking bout a straight line, and thats great and all but there are other bikes out there that corner a lot better. and in the end, its really all about the driver.

Exactly! I got friends on 600's that could smoke some of the squids that feel like they need the bike with "the highest power to rate ratio EVAR"!
*Edit* And God Bless the original poster of this for what you do man. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Yeah, Kawasaki has a problem with that. Seem only certain bike make the big numbers and the rest do not. They did the same thing with the zx-12.
But they are very nice bikes and it is about time Kawasaki made bike that handle again!

I think he meant a slipper clutch assembly. It will keep you from locking up the rear wheel on a downshift.

Let us know how you like the bike once you get it broken in... have you ever ridden the zx-6r? I'm wondering how it compares to that bike, minus the power, because I didn't like the locomotive feel of it... I plan on buying a liter bike in the next year and would like some feedback.

Anyone else find it weird that he coems on here talking about how he got the ZX10 and how its does 100mph in 1st gear and when Volpe questions him he comes back with

That sounds like some Magazine bench racer BS.
Most people who own a bike when confronted by someone who doubts the validity of their claims would say" I did so I don't know what to tell you".
Plus I don't know too many people who would take their new bike and wind out 1st gear like that.
I could be in left field so.........

Hey, I'm not doubting its possible, but to me, you dont' try to find that out until a bike is properly broken in. Taking a bike to redline in first with 0 miles isn't the smartest idea. Also, the bikes that cycleworld and sportrider test are usually production models, which are slightly different than the actual releases. Speedo's can be off, hp numbers can be different, gear ratios can be changed... the only way to test the validity is break it in, take it somewhere and get the speed gun out and see.
Anyone thats ridden a liter bike knows they're no joke. Slight miscalculations or rider error can put you in trouble quick. Any of the bikes in the shootout are great machines... I just disagree with the deciding factor being what has the most hp (I remember the rant and rave post when the R1 was released having 180hp and its gonna be the greatest bike ever). Whatever you choose to ride, enjoy and be safe.

for a street only sportbike used for agressive twisty road riding, i dont think i'd ever want more than the power/weight ratio of a 750cc bike so i dont have to worry about rear tire traction.
this literbike power obsession is really narrowminded and shows the majority of riders think with their ***** instead of their brain.
