what grit sandpaper?
on refinishing your rims you should go very fine grit like 2000 to 3500 grit. As far as your hood goes if you want to repair it, u wanna start off with 80 grit around the dent, till it bare metal. Then u bondo it up make the shape as close as possible. Then put a scim coat of glaze filler, then sand that with 180 or 220 grit. Then primer it up. Let it set there for a few days resand it with 320-400 grit. Now its ready to paint.
2000 to 3500 grit would be for sanding a mirror finish into something that is already painted. If it is bare metal and you are trying to polish it you don't even need that fine. You can get a mirror finish with anything around 800. Anything over 3000 and you are talking about polishing plexiglass and stuff.
