Default B16-T vs. n/a k20

I already have a b16a2 swap in my civic, runs really good, perfect compression and leakdown. the tranny is starting to loose 3rd gear (grinding from 2-3 and high rpm 30% of the time)

So for about if I turbo the B16 I know that I'll make better numbers. but you also have to factor in that I'll need to rebuild my tranny soon and this going to be a daily driver... and I'm going to beat the **** out of it!

The K series is looking better every day. I mean well over 200whp n/a is sick. the six speed tranny is sicker, and I'm sure it's stronger than my 5speed on my b16

also this is CA where it's probably easier to get a k20 swap to pass than a b16-T.

Have at it. Please no flaming!

bandwagon? Speed is always in style

I say do whatever you can. Boosting the b16 sounds a whole lot cheaper though... and thats always good.

do whatever the hell you want to do.

Honestly, the k20a is a f*cking beast. I shift every .5 seconds and every shift the RPM's drop maybe 500. N/A power is crazy. but your B series will be faster because of boost.

so when i comes to it, make you own decision.

just to throw this into the mix...

i do all the work on my own car, so is the K series any harder to work on than a B series in an EG? like i'm not going to have to pull the motor to change the timing belt or anything gay like that right?

Go for the K20 NA I'd say.

Bandwagon? Everything when it comes to Hondas is a bandwagon.

If you want to be original you better be trying ot make an 11 second CX with the stock engine.

Why not boost a k20? Sounds like a good idea to me. Between your two choices, I would boost the b16.

PUT A "BANDWAGON" MOTOR IN THERE.

I'd go with TURBO B-series myself, because that is what i know.

although the K has nice numbers, i'd have to learn about this motor before i dropped it in.
how much does it cost to put K series in a EG anyway?

Do what you like, honestly. Cause chances are there will always be someone else faster, and you need to be happy at a certain speed limit.

Car with 4 wheels is a bandwagan. Any engine has its merit but it all boils down to how deep your wallet is. If you want to do the swap so you can get the respect from your peer, then you gotta stay at the front line all the time (not just doing what other people do, but also invent and start a trend). But if you want to do it for yourself, then really no one else can make the decision for you.

I'd get the k20 & do a little searching...

1. Please do a search on your question BEFORE you post a topic.

Please try searching numerous key words under "recent" and "archived" topics in this forum and in the Hybrid Forum, or any other forum that applies to your topic at hand.

This forum is being ruined by too many of the same tired "B16A vs. B18C1?" topics and "Should I boost my SOHC or Get a Swap?" type topics. We understand that you want guidance, but rather than post an open topic, why not o some searching and find members here that have had successful builds/swaps and carry on an IM conversation with him or her?

We do care about what you want to do, but when we have literally 10 open topics about the exact same thing it gets highly annoying. This MB is here for ALL of us, not just one person who thinks we should all cater to him or her by posting in his or her topic while he or she NEVER performs searches and doesn't even browse the topics in the first few pages of the forum.

i've read just about every k20 thread on HT. Even on other sites. Done a lot of my own research already.

Just wanted some other peoples opinions. And i haven't seen many N/A k vs Turbo-B threads.

HP VS HP up to the limits of a N/A motor the N/A will be faster

for example 300 Hp turbo VS 300 Hp all motor

all things being equal the all motor will be faster giving both cars were of the same weight, and had transmission gearing optimized for their specific power bands.

Definately go with k20. So much more potential, newer, and strong motor from the factory.

K all the way!

boost is really nice, i give it that... but making 200WHP NA with ease is sweeter. not to mention 6speed

of course thats my input, but it all boils down to you to make the decision. something new is always good
