Default Brit Accord Needs Help...

Hi Guys,

I'll confess straight away that I've been a bit sneaky here. I don't actally own an Accord as such. I'm mailing from the UK and have a '96 Rover 620 which is basicaly a re-badged '93 to '97 Honda Accord. It has an Accord chassis, an Accord engine and even a few Accord panels. Like I say, its basically a re-badged Accord.

Problem is that there are three versions on this car in the UK, two Honda engined and on Rover engined turbo car. The Rover turbo is the one that gets moddified over here and the Accord engined cars don't really get bothered with. This means that there are very few parts and very little advice available on the market for the Accord/600 which I (thank God, the Rover ones leak oil like a 70 year old tanker thats run adrift!) have.

I've looked on a few sites and was impressed by the number of parts available from the US (Mmmm... turbos...) but need to confirm a few things first.

Does anyone have any pictures of the F20 engine they can post as I'm pretty sure this is the engine fitted to my car but can't be a hundred percent as a few people seem convinced its the H20 lump. I know they look pretty different to each other but I can't seem to find any definate "this picture is of this engine" pictures.

Also any advice people can give me on the strength/quality of this engine would be much appreciated so that I can figure out if its worth carrying on dreaming about my little Honda-powered project (I'll have the only turbo'd F20 Rover 600 in the world if I can pull it off! ).

All help would be much appreciated guys,

Rich.

All of the F series USDM motors here are SOHC 2.2 or 2.3 liters. The F20 is actually a DOHC VTEC JDM motor found in the Japanese Accord Euro-R. Post some pics of your car if you have any.

If its any help its suppossed to be the F20z1 engine. We get the F23 in the Rover over here but Honda were unwilling to let their partners use the F22 VTEC as they were worried it might steal sales from the Accord, which it did anyway. Unfortunatley only Civics are normally modified over here in the UK and thats only been a recent thing after The Fast & The Furious came out. Its a shame really because I've always thought that the Accords had a lot of potential and looking on here has proved it.

I'll see if I can get some pictures sorted out.

Here's a link to some pics I've found. Its a smaller version of the engine (1800cc) but essentially looks the same.

Also if its not the F20 then do you know which engine it is in the 2.0 litre Accord?

The engine type is stamped on the block, along with the engine's serial #. There's a flat spot about mid-height, right alongside where the transmission separates from the engine. Maybe it's hidden by the radiator hoses, alongside the exhaust manifold.

I recently bought a 1994 Hona Accord 1997cc here in the uk. It is an F20z1 engine. I will get a pic of the engine bay when i get home for you if that will help.
