Grr header cracked....repairable?
So my exhaust has been getting louder and louder lately, so today I was checking it out and low and behold it was cracked, pretty badly. Here are some pics.

So what do you guys think? Repairable? I know the flow will probably not be the same if it is repaired. If your wondering its a Spoon header about 2 years old. I was told by some friends I might have motor mounts going bad cause this might look like a stress fracture. Give me some of your opinions please..

dam Rob...you are fast with the replies. I already spoke with Rodey. He might be doing some welding tomorow so hes going to call me back when he finds out.. Good news!..just found my stock cat so I can at least run the stock header for the time. ohh and I dont know you home number.

Ohh wow Im not a frequent here so I didnt know this happened to someone else. Any inputs on what might have caused this? there is no damage to anyplace else on the header, my ITR has a stock suspension so I am ok in most situations for ground clearance.
Rob, the Spoon header doesn't have a support at the rear as the stock and JDM OEM one do and most likely cracked under stress and whatnot. It has nothing to do with you hitting anything, more like the heat and twisting stress and lack of support as the engine moves when running.
Best of luck, see you soon.

now i'm guessing my old header that Dr.Cortez had now may have been heading to the same destiny even before I hit that dip in road

If that is kind of a buzzing rattling sound around 3,500 to 5,000 rpm and relatively intermittent, it sounds like the heat shields. Get under and take a look at the heat shields. In the 94 to at least the 97 to 98's there was a recall for the heat shields because they worked their way loose and rattled all around.
I had that work done on my 94 LS when I still went to the dealerships.
My first R didn't have that rattle/issue but when I got my second R I knew what the sound was right away and Rodney was nice enough to crawl under and rip them right off. No more buzz now.

I'd expect his leak to be gettin pretty loud.

i have a 91 ls.. and mine rattles.. but i think its cuz rocks got up in the little holes of the heat shield somehow, would it be safe to take them off, or would i have to worry about a plastic bag flying underneath the car from wind and melt onto my cat?
The noise will be a fairly noticable noise. It will pretty much sound like an exhaust leak. Originally I thought the gasket may have fallen apart or some loose, so that is why I was originally down there checking things out. After spending the past 2 hours working on getting off the dam rusty bolts I am not back to stock for the time being. I could have lived with the exhaust leak sound but I dont want to cause any further damage to the header so its off awaiting surgery.
