Few Questions I Couldnt Find Answers To
Im building up a CRVTEC (B20Z & JDM ITR Head) for boost. I need your unbiased opinion and please no answers concerning price. From what Ive read, it seems like JE makes the best pistons on the market for imports, or is there something else thats better? As far as the compression, Ive heard 8's and 9's, which and why?The same thing with Pauter, you have said they're excellent, just a little pricey, the main reason for many of you using Crower. As far as cams and gears go, Ive heard a mixture of both, use aftermarket (JUN), but others have told me aftermarket will create too much overlap and to stick with stocks, preferably GSR. Hondata seems to be the choice, Im thinking about going Stage 4 with boost and the replcaement map sensor + adding the MoTeC PLM Lambda Meter. Also, what size and type of injectors are the best onthe market? A big thank you beforehand for any help.
*Edit* Forgot to add, this will be for a street car.

I would recommend JE pistons for your application. Personally, I know that JE makes B20 Block/B16 Head Pistons, but I am not too sure if it affects CR since you will have a B18C5 Head. I know the quench area is different between the B16 & B18C1/5 Head! I am not too sure whether this is a street car, drag car or combination of both, so choosing the right compression ratio can be difficult. PERSONALLY, I would go 8.5:1 CR if it were going to be a DRAG ONLY car! If it were going to be a daily driven street car or a street/strip car, I would go with a 9.5:1 - 9.0:1 CR just so the car will be more responsive on the street.
As for the rods, I have seen Crowers hold 500-600+ whp without any problems whatsoever. I have no experience with Pauter nor Carillo. I haev used Eagle rods, but I don't know what their limits are , if any! My experience with Eagle is too new for me to comment on durability & power output issues.
On a turbo car you want very little duration, but you want major lift. Too much duration will cause too much overlap. Overlap can rob major hp from a high hp engine.
I hope this helps

Lift and over lap are two different things, but are related.
Lift- How much the valve opens up.
Overlap- How long the intake and exhuast stay open at the same time.
Lobe seperation- How many deg. the intake and exhaust valves are seperated.
Duration- How long it stays open.
You want maximum lift, with little over lap. But yes, too much lift can cause too much overlap.

arent you contradicting yourself there?
