once it is disassembled I would use a scotch brite pad and some penetrating oil on the valve and seat. The parts that are just cosmetically damaged from rust I would probably try to hit with a sand blaster.
a part that vital to my entire motor, i wouldnt risk it.
it would cost you $200 to get a tial 38mm.
i know the HKS is better, but if you are trying to get by with a rusted wastegate then i cant image you would even max out a tial 38mm.
thats just my opinion.

Do you buy a new motor when you blow it up or do you rebuild it? Some people do one and some do the other. I like fixing things personally.

No, but i sure as hell replace the "blown" parts with *NEW* ones. like i said, its just my opinion, but that to me looks beyond fixable. You are going to HAVE to get rid of that rust one way or another.
i dont think it is feasible to buy new internals.
if you sand or use any kinda of a cleaner you run the risk of tampering with the seals.
again, my opinion, and i didnt ask what you like to do

i see what you mean by that which is why i asked the question...however if it is something that can be cleaned and not have to worry about then that's what id rather do...
but again i do see what you are talking about too...i think what im going to do is take it apart and see how clean i can get it...
if it doesn't look good, or if there is any doubts then i'll just get a new tial or maybe another HKS...
i'll take it apart and let it soak and scrub it as much as i can!

Cant you sand blast that? Then clean it off with water and should be smooth, but you might need somthing to get the very inside of it. Dont know about the inside if its rusted. Get a new one?
