UPDATE: 05/11/04 Blake has just returned from One-Lap of America and placed very well in their basically stock subie. Make sure to congratulate him
I am leaving to Florida tommorow (5/12/04) I will return Sunday (5/16/04). I may not have internet access @all times but Ill try to check the thread as often as I can.
Here is the update email from Blake:
Sorry for the long delay! I just returned from One Lap of America and the cell phone and internet availability on the trip sucked. I used t-spot for my travel and no where in the mid west offered that service!
Ok on to the group buy:
I think I may have quoted a price for shipping to canada. If not, the price from FedEx is $18.50 for extra shipping charges.
COD fees are around 2-5% for the package. The total for the item will be available for each buyer via a tracking number I will provide.
I returned to an amazing amount of orders and I am currently filling as many as I can.
Once the amount and total payments have been received I will give an ETA for the group buy battery shipments.
Once again, the payment address for certified funds is: checkpayment@brailleauto.com, Credit cards are sent to sales@brailleauto.com - don't forget the paypal fee. I recall the total needing to be sent was $118.50.

While talking w/the Blake the other day, I began discussing some of their products w/him.
I needed to pick up a Lightweight battery for the Lude, so I began asking him about a Group Buy option. Blake has OK'd a groupbuy for us under the following terms.
LIMIT TO 15 BUYERS, FIRST COME FIRST SERVE
GROUP BUY PRICE: $115 shipped (w/in US, Canada will be extra.)
The battery will include all the hardware (posts included) Honda Civic, Integra owners will need. The Accords, Preludes and s2k's may need something else. Those owners will receive the universal kit which will aid them installing the battery.
Here are some specs on the battery. (for further specs, and a comparo article for other batteries I have .pdf that can be emailed to you. Send an email to dsemailfosho@aol.com if interested.)
Size: 5.80 x 3.32 x 5.88
Weight: 11.5 lbs
Warranty: 1 year free replacement, covers automotive use.

Sounds like a good way to save weight. Do lighweight batteries last just as long as regular batteries and are they ideal for daily driving + an alarm constantly armed while the car is parked?

Should not be a problem, check out the specs up above, and I can email you further details. I run a Hawker in my ITR for now, I have a pager alarm as well I have had no problems. The Braille is even more powerful then the hawker plus covered by 1 year warranty, for automotive+race apps.

That's what I currently have in my Lude.. It's huge, I'd assume it weighs more than the OEM battery.
As far as amperage ratings I'm not sure. The Optima battery is designed to be powerful but not light.

I wouldn't suggest a light battery on a street car. Especially if you're using either a non-stock crank pulley or if you have a stereo.
We have electrical problems with the Hawker on my race car, but then again, I'm slightly more than stock compression
