Default I think my car has a problem

Ok here is the deal my car at 80 mph stays around 5.5k rpms but for some reason just droped to 4.5k rpms at 80 mph, I have no clue why. Here may be what happened.

My mods are: JUN 3 cams/gears, jdm 4-1, hondata stage 3, aem fpr, custom exhaust, 7 lbs flywheel, jdm final drive, act 6 puck, jun vavle springs, crower ti retainers. My car has always been loud but just last week the felx arm broke (the wire thing in front of the cat) witch made it about 10 times louder and the rpms droped to 4.5 from 5.5. Now that I have got a new flex arm my car is not even half as loud as it ever was and the rpms are still at 4.5k when at 80 mph.

I have no clue as to what could have happened the car still feels strong and runs smooth but I just think something is not right, please any help woul dbe great.

Flex arm?

You mean the throwout bearing fork thing in the front of the tranny with the boot and bleeder valve on it?

Check your primary O2 sensor wiring for melting/shorting.
Other than that, the faries gave you an overdrive!

I'm not sure why it would be quieter, though ...

my car was doing the same thing and it turned out to be an easy fix -- the negative battery terminal connection was loose.

a) your speedometer just not as accurate at higher speeds
b) your speedometer just not as accurate at higher speeds
c) have you altered your gear ratio? i thought its supposed to be somewhere around 4.5K at 80mph

it is but not with a 7 lbs flywheel and a jdm final drive. Also the car was at or over 5.5k around 80 mph for about 2 years (when I had the mods installed). I will check everything else but it just happened when that flex arm broke.

Unless you changed FD or j00 got an extra gear, there is no way j00r car is revving less at the same speed...

it is and i have no reason why. it dropped 1k rpms out of no where and vtec still kicks in when it reaches 5.6 rpms. i really have no idea what could have happened and so far nobody i ask does either . I WANT MY CAR BACK!!!

oh and i have a jdm fd and a 7 lbs flywheel

no its not because it still hits vtec at 5.6k, it dropped 1k rpm's and where it went nobody know

I dont think it is the ecu, I have a hondata stage 3 and it has worked fine.....unless of course it got unplugged *runs outside to check*

This question is really impossible. No matter what, your gearing cannot change unless messed with which you stated you did not change.

If you were once going 80 at 5.5k and now are going 80 at 4.5k that means two things, your either not going 80 at 4.5k but rather 7x at 4.5k, your speedo could be off.

THERE IS NO WAY, you your rpms can drop 1000 rpm and still be going 5.5k.

Has someone stolen your tranny, and replaced it with an LS one?

haha i wish it was that easy.

i went and did a seed-o test and it was perfect with another car. I also raced my girlfriends R from a 30 mph roll and smoked her, but I still want my 1k rpms back.

Another thing I noticed was before when I was at 80 mph and my rpms where at 5.5 ish the car drove smooth. Now when I get the rpms up to 5.5k witch is around 90 or so mph the car is real jumpy (like when i step on the gas the car jumps). I dont know anymore I think I am going to call Hondata tomorrow and see if they know what could be wrong, maybe I have to get retuned...who the hell knows at this point.

A gear ratio calculator for US ITR gears with a 4.785 final drive says 80.7mph is 4800rpm.

Flywheel has no bearing on engine speed vs mph.

thanks for this info. I just tested my car and it is at around 4.8k at 80 mph, thought I do still think it is funny that my rpms where higher before I am glad it is normal i think. Just to make sure again, jdm fd with flywheel will be at 4.8k because flywheel does not matter, I am right?

thanks for the help
