Default Rubber glue compound on headlights

I have headlights that I want to take apart and possibly repaint (gunmetal). This means the rubbery glue substance that hold and seal the pieces together have to be stripped off.

Does anyone know what's the name of that glue and where to buy it?

Its silicon...you can either get clear or black

but you should try and re-use the old silicon and seal extra with additional silicon as needed.

yup, no need to remove old glue, maybe some of the excess. But just add more silicon when you reseal it.

Hell when me and my friends did it to his civic SI, we didn't even need to add extra silicon. Just heat it up for about 2-5 minutes at a low heat, then just press the two pieces together until the silicon cools.

Heat your oven to 300 when wardm place the light on a towel and let it heat up for 10-15 min.. Be sure to not let the light assembly touch the side of the oven. Pull apart paint- repeat in reserve process. No need to add more silicone- Uve hadn power not laverage power. A levarage device , like a screwdriver will bend the plactics while warn and will caluse a vapor leak. Hopt his helps.. Did 3 sets last weekend on a Celica and it works like a dream.. (Wife has a celica I have the honda)
