Spoon 16x8?
Hi,
There is a set of Spoon SW388 here and they could be for sale.
The problem is they are off an S2000 so they are 16x7 front and 16x8 rear.
Do you think that they would suit my car?
I would put the 16x8 at the rear and the 16x7 front.
I have seen some japanese racing teams running ITR's with 16x8 front and 16x7 rear?
Why is that? Would that not spoil the handling balance or?

No i don't have a rwd teg
I have Spoon Lowering Springs.
It is not that low.
But still i'm a bit worried about contact with the wheel.
I was planing on running 205 45 16 for the 16*8 and 225 40 16 or 225 45 16 for the 16*8.
So what do you think guys?
Will it spoil the handling of my R? Will it rub ?
Please give advice.

I don't think +45 on the 16x8 is enough to make up for the extra inch. The 16x7 that are normally sold for the ITR are also +45, and picturing how that wheel fits on my car, I am afraid that it's possible an 8" wheel designed that way won't fit.
I have seen JDM cars with 15x8 wheels up front, but not 16x8. My experience is limited, I admit.
Your suggestion that you'd want the wider wheels in the back doesn't really make a lot of sense, if you don't mind my saying so. It works w/Porsches and Corvettes, but wouldn't make a lot of sense for ITR.
If the wheels are available to you very cheaply, perhaps you could consider selling the 8's and buy some 7's.

I have a Hyper REV Magazine of the ITR and there are a couple of teams running 16*8 but with a +43 offset and using 225 45 16 in the front.
Would that +2 offset variation (between 45 and 43) make all that difference whether they would make contact or not please?
So if i mount the wheels and go for a drive and check whether i have no rubbing, would they be ok to be run on my car please?
Do you think i would have a lot of tramlining and the car pulling to the left and right please?
Also would these put more stress to the bearings, hubs etc.... since they are wider?
Sorry for asking so many questions

Hi guys this is a car exactly like mine.....look at the alloys don't you think they look quite wide?
What size do you think they are they and what offset ?

I wish i could fit those spoon alloys
but i don't want my car worse than before.

my guess is that those are 17x8 Buddy Club's. Check the sizes below...

Looks like he'd better have some damned stiff springs!

i'm no expert at this, but i wouldn't run wider wheels in the front with FWD cars unless you're looking to dai undaa
. i have seen many circuit-only Type Rs run sizes like 16x7 215/45R16 (even 225s sometimes) and 15x6/6.5 195/55R15 in the rear. this setup allows for more rotation before understeer sets in, which also makes the overall balance more edgy - lift throttle at the wrong time =
. what i'm trying to say is staggered setup have less tolerance for mistakes.
like i said, these are circuit-spec racers, i personally wouldn't run staggered sizes for street. i find the ITR to be balanced enough with non-staggered sizes because i'm no pro driver.
either way 8" is too wide for a dc2 imo and will more than likely rub without serious camber and modifications to the fenders. i would say test fit them and good luck

Hi Thanks for all your help guys.
I have decided ....i will not go for those alloys.................
I have a motto for my JDM 98 Spec R Tuning....If it will make it better, upgrade, if not forget it.
I will stivk to my CW JDM 16 inchers and fit 205/45/16 Toyos.
Thanking you,

Just an FYI, but I run 15x8" rims on 205/50/15 tires on my ITR and don't have any kind of issues with rubbing or clearance. I am lowered--a lot. Car is setup for SoloII so I do push it. And yes, fenders are rolled, but on any serious car they will be. And camber is enough to tuck the rest.
So why wouldn't a 16x8 with a 215/45 fit the same way?
Every post I've seen about a 16x8 folks doubt the fitment, but I question if anyone has *really* tried to get the wheel to fit in front and back. I know for a fact several folks can fit a 16x7.5 without a problem in the correct offset, so an extra 1/4" both ways won't make a huge difference IMO.
