Default mods on the D16 ZC engine?

Hi guys,

I'm from Singapore and driving a JDM Civic EF3 with the ZC engine. Would like some advise modifying the engine less bolting on a turbo or supercharger.

How's the AEM CAI, K&N Typhoon or the DC Sports intake? Any good?

The AEM cai and Iceman intake are the best intakes on the market today. I would suggest getting a cai rather than a short ram because if you see any hp gain it will be from the cai. Colder air means more hp.

You can also bolt on a header. An 88-91 CRX Si header will work but you will have to port match it to the head because the exhaust ports are about 3 mm higher than on the D16A6 head.

Hi ZC_CRX,

Singapore's Civic Si'91 comes with the D16A9 motor, it's the DOHC ZC engine. Till date, the car is still stock except for K&N drop-in and Denso Iridium Plugs. How much and what's the part number for the AEM CAI for the ZC? Any other mods you can recommend? After market Japanese parts are available here but don't really know what would be best for the Si. Currently using Royal Purple engine oil, is this good?

Hey! Your best bet is to search http://www.ebay.com for a CAI. There are a lot of people selling them there. The CAI for the US CRX Si SOHC should work for you. I'll search around and see if I can find a part number for you. I used the same one when I swaped the engine. As for engine oil I use Castrol Synthetic Blend (about $5 a quart). It all depends on where you live. I'm in New York so this time of year it is cold.

Hey thanks man. Did a check myself on the AEM website and found the part number to be 21-400B. Not sure becos the Si designation is slightly different in each country. So you're swapped a D16A9 into your CRX? What mods have you done to your car? I'm currently looking for the JDM EF9 spoiler and front bumper as well. would like to post a pic of my car, how do you attach a pic in this forum?
