Default High Amp Alternator

Maybe this is the wrong place to ask, but does anyone know if high amp alternators cause a loss of hp?

They can...you are adding parasitical drag to your rotating assembly - so just like you can loose power from AC, PS, etc - the same is true for a larger alternator....
