Shifter falling through floor?
I have a skunk 2 SS, with urethane busings on my car. When i put the SS in it seems to fall through the floor and rest on my exhaust, i replaced that white bushing that goes around the ball and it seemed fine for a few months. Now the shifter has dropped completely through the floor and rests on the exhaust, and the only way to drive is to hold the shifter up(PITA btw).
Am i missing something here? Why is it falling through the bottom of the car? Should i just try another white ball bushing?

The shifter ball sits in the white bushing, which in turn is bolted to the car with a bracket below. Sounds like you're missing something. Take some pics.

Check the install instructions on our site - they are easy to follow with a pic for reference. In particular look at steps #5, 6, and 9. If you left out any of the stock parts that is your problem (either the rubber boot or the metal plate it sounds like).
The instructions are specific to our Road Racing shifter, but the install instructions are bascially the same for your Skunk shifter.
Let us know what you find.

i had the identical problem with my c's shifter, im trying to remember what , but ur installing one piece upside down...i'll try to remember and post up tomarrow
Ok well, i did some investigation and found out that the ball had actually fallen through that plate.
According to the diagram:

I am missing piece #1, and assuming that the #8 is the white plastic bushing that hugs the ball. That is wierd, since that the #1 piece never camne with the car, hmm
I have it all held togethr by tie strpas right now for a temporary fix

If you are talking to me, the bolts are cranked all the way.

dont tighten them too tight... my shifter is loose b/c i let my "eager" coworker help out when changing the shifter out.. he snapped those little bolts in two....
i'm guessing the ball is too small... i have a different shifter but no white plastic thing and it stays put for the most part, it may be a combination of the two..
