Default Is the Helm Service Manual for me?

Hey there. I am new to cars in general. Started driving about a year ago (94 CX). I have done minor mods (all myself thanks to all your great DIY's). Now i am looking for something more. I have always been that DIY person. So is the Helms for me? I am looking to buy a junkyard motor and just RIP it apart in my garage to learn how everything works etc. then i will look into a DIY engine swap. Does the helm manual touch on ODB0, 1, 2? How to wire everything or is that only in the EMT?

Bear with me i know NOTHING about cars. but i am willing to learn.

wtf is a distributor lol? /me is n00ber

so.. is it for me? is it worth the investment for me? also my brother has a 94 si so i guess we could both use the manual. is there a difference in the manuals i would need and he would need? since the motors are different etc?

i need to have my hand held and shown pics and then i would most likely be able to do it.

i AM mechanically incliened.

If you plan on working on your car then you better buy it. It is the "Bible" for civics. I use mine all of the time. It will save you money on the long run.

Helm's = The Bible for those of us who go to sleep dreaming about cars/motors at night.

The Helm's manual is for anyone wanting to work on their car themselves. It is extremely informative with step by step instructions and diagrams for anything you would want to do. It is well worth the money, IMO, and will probably pay for itself with the first job you do yourself.

A very small scan of the ETM (electrical troubleshooting manual).

There isn't a person here who has an opinion other than "Its the greatest".

I, like many others on here, can personally attest that the Helm's service manual is pretty much the bible for your car. You can virtually build the entire car if you have the parts, following the instructions within the manual. One of the best investments I've made for the car. And not just for performance reasons, but for maintenance as well.

The helms tells you everything you want to know about your car and then some. It gives you every tq spec tells you what to replace, how to take things apart and put them back together and so on. If you are do not have the money to buy it and search on here there are a few people that have the helms in pdf format that you can prob download. Then if you have access to a high speed printer like I did at work. You can print them all.

Also make sure you decide what you are going to do first. Like if you have a 92-95 hatch and are going to put a teg motor in. It is prob better to get the helms for the teg instead of the civic. Since all the motor, trans and so on will be in the teg manual. Hope that helps.
