ITR insurance! HOTDAMN!
Ok folks. I was considering getting and ITR for a fun/track car. My plan was to sell the GSR and get an ITR.
I just got a quote for the ITR: $1500 a year! WTF! THat's some serious crack! I'm bitchin' that the GSR insurance is $1050 a year already.
Mind you this is a weekend car. So milage will be 6k or less a year.
Also, we have 2 insured drivers, with 3 cars. All garaged. Married, clean record for both of us, etc...
To put it into perspective, the wife drives a '03 TL TypeS. The insurance premium on that is LESS than the GSR. Mind you if we wrapped both cars around a pole, the payout for the TL-S would be 4x as high as the GSR.
Nuts. No ITR for me.
I can't justify $1500 a year for a car I'll barely drive. That's $0.25 per mile to insure it! Just to insure it!
It cost less for me to insure my M3 before! And that was before I was married! This is nuts. I'm gonna go buy myself a ford taurus! hahahaha
Sorry, just had to rant a bit.

I realize that $1500 isn't that "expensive" relative to a lot of people. But keep in mind, my age, marital status, record, etc.
I can insure an NSX for $900 a year. Just kind of crazy that an ITR would cost me $1500. I understand it gets stolen A LOT, but that's just nuts.
I was just venting and ranting.

how old are you and what state are you in. if your under 25 and living in a rediculously high state, grow up and move somewhere else =| sucks but thats how life is. insurance is a crock. im 20 and living in SC and i had to put my 95 gsr with 185, 000 miles in my moms name because my insurance would of been close to 350 a month. so your 150 a month is nothing , now go buy an R.
good luck

get the taurus. Its the best way to go. I have driven my father's taurus all over the place and it literally has gotten the crap beaten out of it, only thing left to do is track it and auto x it, and the bad boy just keeps asking for more.
ps I havent been the only one to beat on it, I welcome my friends to beat on it as well. It is the amongst one of the ulimate hoopties, that just keeps on ticking.

Good for you - for checking on insurance rates before buying the car.
However, it's all part of the cost of ownership. An ITR will cost you $X,000 more than a GS-R (purchase price). Insurance will cost you $450 more per year than the GS-R. So to trade the GS-R for an ITR, it will cost you $X,000 (one time) plus $450 per year. If it's worth it to you, get the ITR; if it's not, then don't. But don't whine about it.
Every ITR owner could have bought a GS-R for less money, for the purchase price and for insurance. We already knew that. For us, it was worth it to pay extra for the ITR.
Hey, I bet you can lower your insurance rates by trading the GS-R for an Integra LS...

Hell yeah, and I don't have any points on my license. Damn accidents, and they weren't even my fault.

Dam, if I was paying 1500 per year I would be a rich man. I was paying 395 per month, then it went down to 320/mo. I turn 25 in a month, so hopefully it will go down even more. When I first got the car I was with state farm, and they quoted me at 13,000 per year. No typo, I was in the high risk pool according to them. Now I'm with progressive
