Default Head swap

I'm new to the forum (just signed up!). Anyway, I'm looking into buying a 4th gen Lude but don't know if i want the 2.2 DOHC VTEC (SRV-CANADA, VTEC- US) or the 2.3 DOHC NON-VTEC (SR-CANADA, SI- US). I know Vtec is probably the way to go, but there's a lot better selection of SR/SI's here. I've heard of people swapping the VTEC head onto the 2.3 DOHC block and ending up with equal or better hp and much better torque figures than a stock 2.2 Vtec. My question is: how difficult a task is this swap and how much will it cost? What, if any, are the complications of the swap (leaks, blow-by, etc)? I asked around locally and at a local forum but no one could give me a good answer, but they suggested asking around this forum cuz you guys would know better (told 'mozey' might be able to help me out)

Anyway, I want to know if the cost of an SR/SI with a head swap would be worth it compared to the price of an SRV/VTEC. If anyone knows anything, help a brotha out. Thanks in advance.

PS- Good job on the forum. I can already tell there a lot of knowledgable people here!

I heard there was actually alot of work ya had to do to put an h22a top on the h23 block. I also heard that the cank of the h23 is weaker then the h22. Just buy a vtec.

First of all, any head swap takes alot of hard work. It would be equivelant to an LS/VTEC head swap.

And secondly, you don't need to worry about the crank til you break the 600hp range. So in other words, it's good for whatever you throw at it. Just don't expect to rev up to 7500 rpms. Keep the stock Si redline.

Default head swap

Keep the si redline? Will my overall power be lower than that of a stock VTEC? Also about how much will it cost for a reputable shop to do this swap?

How much pressure can you run with a turbo on a 2.3 DOHC Si engine without any major internal mods before you develop engine probs? I'm thinking at least 5-7 psi, which should make about equal power to a VTEC Lude, right?

LOL! Well, no. I was trying to say that you don't really have to worry about the crank. I mean, who's actually going to make 600whp?
