Default Dyno'd the R

Dyno'd the car about 2 weeks ago.

Will post the print out soon....

Mods so far...
2000 PY Type R 30,000km
AEM CAI
Power steering belt removed. (Removed it on 3rd run and got a 5HP increase and about 8 ft lbs more!!)
Timing 18 degrees.

Put (corrected) 170.5 HP to the wheels and 118 ft lbs.

Just bought and installed the Comptech header (not the race header) and in about a week my Comptech 7lb aluminum flywheel arrives. Going back to the dyno with the header and will go back again once the flywheel is in to see the difference in results. Will keep you all posted.

The flywheel is going to be installed for free by Acura dealer. They need to replace 5th gear synchro in tranny which is still under warranty so I figured getting a flywheel installed since the tranny is out is a good time to do it.

Thanks.

Yes, but is that small amount of gain worth ease of driveability? I drove my friends without the ps belt and it was not worth it to both of us. We put it right back on.

I just don't see a big advantage to doing that. Put the belt back on and get some adjustable cam gears and the get it dyno tuned. I got 178whp and about 125tq with just cam gears and CAI. My VAFC was left untuned at that time.

Those #'s are okay.... but not spectacular. My 2001 put down 174.6 and 123 with just timing and the belt removed. That was with only 8000 kms on the car... I suspect that it is putting down more now with the added kms.

Nice #'s... but not enough Joseph! You better hope the parts show up soon before the car comes down off the stands! Ding, Ding!!!!!

Actually I tend to differ, I really like the feel of it without the PS. A bit of a pain when your not moving but other than I like it cause its like I have more steering response. Going hard around corners is much more responsive, you can get a better sense of how much closer to the edge you are and can judge cornering alot better....imoa.

I would kick the timing back a few degrees if I were you. 18 is a little bit much for a stock ITR. If you take a look at your graph I bet you'll see that the lines are pretty choppy, as opposed to being smooth, which indicates that the motor has a bit too much timing. I would set it to 14-16*.

Actually your right, at the top end my curves start to "break up". Will knocking it back drop HP levels significantly though?

Thanks.

I wouldn't expect more than a 2-4 whp drop, if that.

What kind of dyno are you guys running on? Stock ITR's usually run 160-165+- afew whp... Those #'s seem really high, considering all you have is an AEM and CG's.

I have pretty much the same setup as you minus the power steering removed.

I made 171.x hp and 119.x tq with an AEM cai and the Comptech 4-2-1.

Nice after driving a while without power steering you almost wonder why people use it; it's almost uncomfortable driving a car with power steering

Nice, but I posted those numbers without the the comptech installed, I'll find out what diffference the header makes once I go back this week.
