Default What Octane should I run on my race car? Timming?

I did a search but did not get the info needed. I have a b20Vtec with Jun III and 12.5:1 JE pistons that I use in Road Racing only. I have 2 questions. One, what octane should I use to get good power and no detonation. I have a 55 gal tank full of VP C16 I can use to raise the octane of the 93 Octane pump gas. And second, I am running the stock timming, should I leave it or go higher and still be safe?

I don`t have a dyno close so thats not an option.
Thanks
Jay

What kind of tuning device do you have? I would get a J&S Safeguard before I start tuning the car.

if you mix a bit a c16 you could go up safely 2 degrees, but it would be wise to have a knocksenor and a wideband o2 to make sure everything is 'happy'
