Default Timing Belt too tight?

Since it has been cold lately, when i start my car, or when driving sometimes, their is a very piercing Belt squeel. Thought it was my PS Belt, cause it comes from the area right near the PS and CAM GEARS. but it squeels when i rev also. So it has to be the timing belt. The cold weather must have made it shrink and now is too tight or whatever. Is this bad to drive like this? Is it hard to adjust this? or am i totally off base here with it being the timing belt?

if your timing belt is too tight you can snap your cam in half and have detrimental castrophic expensive to fix failure..

There is an adjustment screw that is a bitch to get at. I can't remember if its 14,15,16 or 17 mm. Its below the cam gears and above the crank pulley. It may be easier to get from underneat maybe on a lift.

Maybe its your ac belt/alternator belt

do you have access to see your timing belt? if so see if you can push on the belt you should be able to push it in and pull it out 1/8" or so on both sides if not loosen the tensioner which is located slightly under your intake cam move the crank pully 1/2 turn then retighten the tensioner make 4 compleate rotations of the crank pully verify cams and crank are at TDC and recheck tension

All you have to do is give each of your belts a little push. You'll know which one is causing the noise. It sounds like one of your belts is loose.

well i fixed the problem with the help of a stethescope, and SiLude. We used the Stetescope to see if it was my timing belt, and it was thank god!!! It actually was my alternator belt, as one of you mentioned. But it was so hard to tell cause it was so ear piercing i wasn't able to pinpoint it. But The bolts we had to undo, and adjust were such a pain in the *** to adjust. But it's fixed now, thanks for the help everyone.
