Can anyone tell me where on grass roots motors sports did a comparison test of these tires vs the RA1's.
I can get a great deal on these tires and i could use a new 2nd set, my khumos will not last the year of SOLO and open lapping.
I just don't want to get garbage.

I've gotten some pretty hilarious price quotes on them from several tire distributors. Like, over 200 each for 205/50-15. Besides that, I've heard good things. Was lapping with an ITS 325 the other weekend on them, he didn't hate them, but liked Victoracers and RA-1's better.
here in Montreal i can get 205/55/14's for $145 Canadian each and then a $200 discount if i get 4. With sales taxes her that come to about $450 CND..
So that is what? i think 360 US.
A new set of Victoracers will cost me 200 CND each. no discount.

I saw a semi-scientific comparison done by one SM driver using data acquisition of what type and accuracy I do not know and general comments on feel. There is a pretty good discussion of the two tires on the spec miata forum. I seem to recall the RA-1s staying more consistent over greater number of heat cycles/miles. I also remember the driver commenting on one tire being better at a higher slip angle than the other and therefore which one you liked depending on one's driving style. Wish I could remember which one was better "looser".

the toyo is more like a street tire. it likes higher slip angles.
the hankook is closer to a slick, stiffer sidewall, lower slip angles, lets go less progressively.
<----got a free set of k00k's to test out 3 weeks ago, and was on toyo's the weekend before that.

tough to tell.
this year i'm running at tracks i've never been to before, so my times are always dropping, but that's due to getting used to the track, not the tire. it feels to me like there is slightly more ultimate grip on the hankooks. but of course i'm comparing a tire that is down to 4/32nd to one that is probably about 7/32nd. i've heard the kooks heat cycle out faster than the toyos, which is probably why the guy was willing to give them to me for free.
anyway, it's really hard to determine which tire is faster when the driver can't even stay consistant. i've talked to people that won't use toyo's even if you hand them to them, and vice versa.

Are you serious? Man thats cheap, I paid $430 last year for 2 195/55R14 and 2 205/55R14 Victoracers from Tire Rack. If I had a tire budget I'd definitely be looking at the Hankooks.

What rims do you run on?

That's not much cheaper than A032R's in CDN but after shipping, customs duties and tax it ended up being 520 USD for a set of 205/50-15. That might not apply to the Hankooks, or it might.
I'm on a second set of stock MR2 rims. 14 X 6 F and 14 X 7 R, probably not of much relevence to the Honda community since they are 5 X 114 and heavy as hell anyway.
