Default Rims Rubbing

Hey im looking into buying rims and i just spoke with a rep at AXIS and he informed me that if I tried putting 18in rims on my car they would rub even if I used a 35 profile... Is this guy right or is he just blowing smoke out his a$$?
Anyone with 18's and lowered can you tell me if this is true?

You can put 18's on your car and not have it rubbing. There is a 97 Prelude around where I live who has 18's and its lowered. Not only that, I've even heard of a guy putting 19's on. **** is crazy. That guy is just ******* stupid.

Why 18's, cost too much, and lower low-end torque. Less RPM's...

Only time they might rub is on hard sharp turns, where ya actually gotta crank the whell all the way to one side.
