Default What would you suggest for an si motor?

Hey everyone i just got a 91 si non vtec motor and 5 spd tranny off of a friend, and hopefully by mid summer will have a zc motor put in the car. So for now are there any mods i can put on the engine for the time being that could also be used on the zc? If not what are some fairly cheap mods i could put on the si motor? Or would it be better to just build the si motor and keep that? Thanks everyone

Cold air or short ram intake for an Si. Those work pretty well.

Just keep the motor and build it. Get yourself a camshaft (I heard Web Cams makes good camshafts, or Exospeed also) and a Bisi header. Exhaust, intake, d16y8 head gasket, d16y8 intake manifold (or a Skunk2 manifold) and a PG7 ecu. You'll be running alright with that, around mid to low 15's or maybe even break into 14's. Considering your car is a 91 Civic Dx, it's lighter than an 90-91 Civic Si and a 90-91 CRX Si, and I pulled a 15.9 stock with my old 91 CRX Si. My buddy's 90 Dx with a d16a6 beats Si's all day because of the weight factor. His best time was 15.8 with no-name intake, PG7 ecu and crush bent 2.25 exhaust. Another buddy of mine had an 88 CRX si that ran 15.6 with a HP Racing header, no-name intake, axle-back exhaust and a PG7 ecu.

You are planning to turbo the ZC anyway so just turbo the Si engine. Why bother with the ZC one? They are both SOHC... unless you change your mind and get the DOHC ZC instead. Si motors make good power - ask Exospeed!

I'm pretty sure the only thing that's differently about the Sohc ZC and the d16a6 is the camshaft most likely. So just keep the d16a6. It's a tough little motor. Just get some good fuel management along with the turbo and it's a fighter!

A PG7 ecu is from 88-89 Integras btw.
