Need Help with B16 Swap!
I currently have a 96 Civic EX. My tranny went out a couple weeks ago and was gunnna rebuild it but decided to upgrade now than later
to a b16. My problem is i got a B16 (Sir2), and the guy that is installing my engine said i would need diff. motor mounts cauase the engine itself comes with EG/DC motor mounts. He aslo mentioned something about OBI, OBDII........??????? Can you guys help me out with info. Do i have to get new mounts for my Civic "EK" or can i use the ones that come with it. and about this OBD1 OBD2 stuff? I believe the b16 engine is OBD1.....

Sounds like the engine was previously in a EG/DC. If that's the case, you will need engine mounts for your EJ. Also being that your EJ is 96, it is OBD2 and you'll need an OBD2-OBD1 conversion harness if the motor/ECU is OBD1.
as far as mounts you are going to need the 99-00 si rear mount bracket and driver's side upper mount bracket... for the rest you can use the mounts/brackets already in your car.
if the motor is obd1, then you better just stick with that.... run an obd1 computer and you can change over to a hondata setup..... don't bother trying to convert to obd2a (96-98 civics) because it will be a big hassle.

You dont need the Hasport mounts. I believe they're around $400-500. The only reason to upgrade to CNC'd mounts is if the ones you plan on using are torn/ripped, which then you can buy motor mount inserts for $30 and you wouldnt be able to tell any difference between the Hasports and the stocks with inserts. A buddy of mine bought Hasports after swapping a motor in, and none of us could tell ANY difference in wheel hop or how much the motor torqued in the engine bay (the inserts into the stock mounts felt identical).
Just my oppinion anyway...
