s20 Tranny install and prep.
I am getting ready to replace my junk cx tranny with a s20 tranny that i picked up over the weekend, Thanks to Mamaboy
.
Anyways I'm doing a mini me on my d15b8 which i will take pictures and document for my hatch restoration project. I am also doing general maintenance since the motor has around 100k. For the tranny I would like to know what is the best way to prep for a fresh install. I have a new exedy clutch in the cx tranny which i will be using. So far I'm going to replace all the seals and get the flywheel resurfaced. What else should I do to get this thing ready to go? It's been sitting for a while and could use a good clean up, what would you recommend to get it nice and clean.?
Thanks.
For the actual install I will be pulling the whole motor out. I picked up a 2 ton engine hoist for $100 since I don't have a lot of room to work. Thanks.

Spray the entire transmission with brake cleaner. Get the FW resurfaced. You will need these parts:
-Both Axle Seals in Transmission
-Input shaft bearing in transmission
-Input shaft seal in transmission
-Rear main seal in block
I didn't replace the rear main or the input shaft seal when I did my tranny/clutch. Now, one of them is leaking and my brand new clutch is ruined.
