Paint prices on your EF
I might be changing the color of my car and I am wondering around how much it would be. I realize im gonna get mixed responses. but What would it cost to change the color?? painting the door jams and everything? about 1500? or more? just wondering what some of you guys paid
Are you painting trim pieceds too? Stock bumpers and sided skirts? Any body damage? 1500 is about right excluding the engine bay, i think that would be pretty cheap for a good quality job. Is is a crx or a hatch?
deepending on what brand paint, how good of a shop it is (ie downdraft thermal bake painting booth, etc) how much body/prep work is needed and if you take trim, etc off. I would say 1500-2500 is a good estimation of how much you will pay. Understand that with higher price come higher quality, seriously. Most of the places I have EVER been too, the higher priced places used better paint, stock panels, etc. I used a very good cheap paint (oxy-moron I know) and good prep work and I should have good results (car is getting painted as we speak. I went with an Omni base/clear system, the stock rio red for my 90' STD HB. BUt I am not changing colors, so my paint cost will be cheaper than yours. I got a hook-up on paint cost an paid $150 for all my supplies.
Hope this helps,
John

Wow 2200 CDN seems very good for everything, I have got no quote under $3000 Canadian, but I think that is because I need my new rear quarters welded on.
Do you have any before and after pics?

im getting my hole car painted next week its yellow now but im getting it done with audi a4 dove metalic silver door jams and all 600 the guy just painted my friends eg hatch and it looks real good
I stripped my '89 hatch down to the shell and sent it to the body shop. I had them take every dent, ding, etc. out of the body, shaved the antenna, rear wiper, and rear keyhole and emblems. They took care of a minor misalingment in the rear, then we went complete color change - door jams, engine bay, interior metal, everything. Went House of Color Galaxy Grey (graphite grey pearl). They sanded, buffed and re-cleared my c-f hood and also painted the under frame on it to match the car. They mounted both wings west bumpers and sent her home to me - $5000.00 I would do it all over again if I had to. They were completely professional and did a wonderful job. With body work - you always get what you pay for.

Thats supposed to be one of the best paint booths? right?
My dad just wired one of thoese up for his buddy at a body shop and hes gonna paint my car for free in it. Its pretty sick. it gets up to like 175 degreese celcius in the thing.
How good of a job does them paint booths do? My car has NO rust and im doing everything when i paint, removing engine and windshield etc. They also have a very good reputation for good workmenship.
i cant wait!!
