CRX LS/Vtec Bogin like a muthaF*#$... HELP.code 4 here..
Sup yall, well my crx is trippin HARD.... i'm gettin the code 4 which is the
Code 4 - Crank Angle Sensor
Top sensor in the dist. and is used for fuel control and misfire detection.
If the dist. base bearing starts failing, it will start heating the sensor(s) up, destroying the magnetism causing a code(s). It will lose 10% of it's strenght, each time it is heated up, to a 170 degrees plus.
In most cases, replacing the distributor is the only alternative. Especially if the bearing has failed.
Honda does don't stock the bearing itself, but other after-market compaines are said to have one.
If you have problems starting the engine, or drivability after the install check your cam aligment. The seizing bearing might have caused it to jump a tooth/notch or two. From the extra drag due to the bearing failing.
SOOO, basically I will need to change the Distributor hunh?? but don't really wanna do it cuz IT looks BRAND NEW lol SO, yeah i haven't check that Dist. yet.. i mean the wirering... cuz the car after 4000 RPM it Starts trippin like fuel cut off or something ... and won't go .. just Bogs u know!! can any 1 help.... ohh and I thought about and maybe could be ELectrical problem cuz the ecu light was kind flashin a lil bit..... i dunno... any Suggestions would be great...
thanks

Before you go and get another distributor, re-check your wiring and make sure it all matches up. It would suck if you spent some money on something you may not even need.
