That looks bad ***. (should have thought of that).

Anyway it looks like he clipped his vent and then got some plastic pieces and put them on a henge onto the vent ends. Either that or he gutted the vent, and put the Apexi mount there and then just get some fabric and cover it. Either way looks very easy and very sleepy

Yeah I would agree also. Like some type or springs were placed in the area to where you hit it, it pops up. Probably custom though, imo. But someone else should have a better answer than the both of us. Good luck!

Hmm.... Well im sure you could put a cover on the bottom of fabric of some sort or something so heat wont get to the VAFC.

The vents in the middle are probably just out for the installation (easier to work with with the vents out doing something like that). Im sure they still work. (minus the top one of course.

I dont think he has a spring so that when he pushes it it comes up. Look at it closed, you see the little indention (sp?) on the front.

Edit AGAIN!: I think he just closed the vent to the top and left it alone, no fabric no nothing, and no heat seeps through.

Also i dont know how he did it, im just guessing and all i say is what i would do. Also this is just from what i see from the pictures so i could be 100% wrong on everything. Just thoughts

Pretty sure he meant just the VAFC, not the whole trap door contraption.

yea it would just be the vafc. And i would have a cool carring case or something. And it would also be when i am going inside my house or something, or if i know my car would be parked for a while. And i rather get rid of comfort and have a little more security.

Default VAFCIII?

I think you all might be on to something here. A smart thing to integrate into the next VAFC would be a detachable faceplate - similar to those commonly found on aftermarket car stereos. Detach the faceplate, store it in a secure place, and the car won't even run without it. Of course that would suck for a theif to break into your car and steal your faceplate...ooooh would that suck...happens all the time to head units. They are too lazy to get them out so they just take the faceplate. OR...just get a good alarm.
