5th gen Accord gas gauge problem EVERYONE PLEASE READ
I was reading a thread on another board about this problem. Seems like ALOT of 5th gen Accords are having it. Do you never have an accurate gas level reading on your 5th gen? Your not alone. This happens because of the sending unit in the gas tank and NOT because of the gauge. The sending unit is a float in the gas tank. Depending on how much gas you have determines what level the float sits at. The float sends an electrical current to the gas gauge telling you how much gas you have. When the float gets messed up you get inaccurate readings. Symptoms of a faulty sending unit include: Always full, Always empty, fluctuating gas needle, etc..
Im trying to get a recall made for this problem. HONDA wants $100+ for a new sending unit, and thats if you install it yourself. If you have this problem, or you just want to help out, please call the NHTSA and give them your contact info and vin# and tell them about your malfuntioning sending unit. If enough people call they might make a recall for us. Then we could take our cars to any HONDA dealership and get it fixed for free.

Im going to post this in as many forums as possible, I would appreciate it if you did too. The more callers we get, the better our chances. Thanks
