Default Falken Ziex Ze512 195/55R15

Can you guys give me some information on this tire. Im replacing yokohama avid t4's, and the falkens appear to be a quality tire. Can someone also explain what the letter classes for the tires explain. Ex. Traction A , Temperature A. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

I just put these tires (Ziex 195/55R15) on my fiancee's 94 accord (her daily driver). If the tire is for the street, it's fine. If you're a casual autocrosser, it's fine. If you're trying to be competitive at autocross, it sucks. It's good in the rain & has a nice quiet ride. However, it does not compare at all with the Falken Azenis in terms of grip.

They aren't bad tires (with a 420 treadwear rating I bet they'll last forever), but definitely not racing tires. I have them on my MR2 (195/60R14 F 205/60R14 R) and they have very soft sidewalls and look like they have a tiny contact patch. I had 185/60R14 snow tires on all the way around over the winter and those look like they have more of a patch than these tires.

I haven't raced on mine yet (hope I never have to), but a friend of mine did, and it didn't work out too well. She did her first autocross in a friend's STS GS-R and was dead last, two seconds off the pace of the next car (the rest of the field was on Azenis or MXs). The next week the car owner put Azenis on and in her second time racing she trophied in a 22 car STS field and was in the top 1/4 of the field in PAX.

There are better choices out there if you are looking for performance.
