Lower Seating position
How does one do this on a GSR...damned sun roof. This will increase cornering force and handling by lowering the center of gravity. Correct?
The stock sitting position is too high. I am tall from the torso->up.
Suggestions on seats and brackets please.
1. Del sol seat---->cheap
2. Recaro or equivalent---->expensive
3. Vision brackets?
4. Something custom????
Please help.
My car handles on rails but I would like more helmet clearance and a lower center of gravity without lowering the car. I don't like rubbing!
Thanks in advance for the replies.

As you mentioned above, you could go to a Recaro, Momo, Sparco etc. I would recommend getting a sport seat as opposed to a bucket if this is a street car. Buckets aren't comfortable for long drives & are a PITA to get into/out of on a daily basis. You would also need to buy a mount kit (or better yet make one) & slider from them to be able to adjust it. Depending on what you get, beware. It might not actually end up too much lower. Another thing you can do is to take your stock seat to a upholstery shop. The shop could remove some of the bottom cushion padding. They could also remove all of it & replace it with a thin layer of firmer foam. HTH

The DelSol seats lower the seating by a good 2 inches or more in a Civic. Plus, they're about half the weight and really comfy. If they fit your car, it may be the most cost effective.
Japanese cars aren't made for taller folks that's for sure. Adding a sunroof compounds the problem. I had the same problem in my Type R. Stock seats are too damn high. Del sol brackets/sliders wouldn't fit so I opted for a OMP bucket instead. They make brackets and sliders that fit the DC-2 and got about 4" of more headroom and a better seating position for heel/toe downshifting. Sparco/Momo/Mugen/Spoon setups should net you a similar gain in headroom.
A 6 pt roll cage is going in this winter.

If your bucket isn't comfortable on long drives, it's not the right seat for your body. You should be able to get a bucket seat that will be the most comfortable thing you've ever been in...i really don't like the stock R seats for some reason, my GS-R ones were better for my build..the R seats don't lean back on the seat like my GS-R ones did, where your *** is lower than your knees...i can't wait to get my Evo in this winter. And you'll save alot of weight doing a bucket vs. a fully adjustable seat...that OMP CF seat is badass
Really depends on what you want to spend. I would first get the seat you want (comfort and safety). Then see if a mounting kit is available that will lower the car to the height you prefer. If not, you can get a welder/fabricator make something for you for under $75. Just show them how you want it (whether be drawing it on paper or showing them on the car), and find out how much it will be. Bottom line, it is not impossible. You could even go to some races and see how seats are attached and how low they are. Good luck...
Thanks all.
I might be able to use the OMP option. 4" sounds good. Don't know about a bucket though. I am a former college football player. No not a kicker, so the small seats have to go. I've seen some OMP seats in Shaq's Ferrari. They were so light.

I have a set of Del Sols in my 99Si and they are an excellent budget seat. Big side bolstering and very comfortable on long roadtrips.
I have a how-to of the rail swap on my site if you need it.

Maybe I should have said it isn't practicle for daily driving. Here is why I feel that a bucket isn' t comfortable for daily driving (or drives of more than a hour - could be that I am just too damn old too!). A bucket hugs your body tightly. It has a minimum of padding. You are in one fixed position. Your butt falling asleep? Too bad. You can't change the seatback angle or sit on one cheak more than the other. A reclining seat, in a major car wreak, will bend or give way. A bucket won't. If it gives, that absorbs some of the energy. If it doesn't, you do. I see this @ work (fireman). There have already been threads about buckets & five points in a rollover without having a rollbar or rollcage. Guess what happens when the car lands on the roof. Having said all that.....I have a bucket in my race car. I had a bucket in my old street/track car. When driving quickly, there is nothing better. It is amazing how much easier it is to drive fast with a good seat. The steering wheel is now for turning not hanging onto & turning.
