Default D15B2 on Nitrous....

What shot is safe to use on a stock D15B2 w/ minor bolt-ons; short ram intake, adjustable cam gear, headers/"2.25 custom exhaust? I was thinking of using a ZEX or NX Dry Nitrous setup, but not sure what is safe shot to run for quarter mile track. What is the min, what is the max? What would you guys run? I figured a 60 shot would be okay. Is that too much?

No kidding! These engines can take tons of abuse. I've had my car since I was 16, my second car, and I was one of those "I've got my license and a honda, I'm a street racer now!" kinda kids. Got over that when I turned 18 and realized that I tore the trans apart and completely burned the clutch. Not built for racing, but can take a lot! They are definitely strong motors. 87K miles and still running strong! Anywayz, thanx for the heads up. I'll put the 50 shot nozzle in tomorrow. Was waiting to install till I got some feedback. (what's up with the 5 post in 24hrs limit? Is there a way around that? Is there a length of time I have to be a member to post more than 5 in one day? I love this site, it's full of great info and great people but I would like to post more. PPPLLLEEEAAASSSEEE!) Seriously.

If you want to know a very fast way to kill a d15, put a shot on it bigger then 50.

I miss my d15b2. I got my DX when I was in high school. 4years later I put a shot on it and boom, the rod smiled at me.

I've seen a 89 crx si with stock motor with bolt ons plus jrsc at 4psi spray 100 shot all day never had any problems.Secret to it is maintenance, constantly check up on it to make sure its alright.

On a stock D15B2 I seriously wouldnt consider running nitrous, but if you must I wouldnt go with anything higher than 40. Save your money instead and get yourself a little better platform like a D15b vtec for $300 and with your list of mods it should be a pretty fun ride NA. Not trying to be a *****

Can I just leave the D15B2 block and swap the head to a VTECH? Add a '91 Si intake manifold and trans and be fine? Will that work or do I have to swap the whole motor. If so, would I have to change the fuel system to EFI? Throw me a bone here... I'm new to the import scene. I grew up building big block Chevy motors with my uncle. Give me some details.

Dont listen to these people saying not to go over 50. Tuning is key. Make sure you are not running lean, or detonating. Get colder plugs, and maybe an adjustable FPR. One of my friends friends went 12.0's at about 110 on a 100 shot on a stock d series. And he's been spraying that for about two years. Do it right, do it once.

No worries. Like I said, I'm new to the import scene and need some details on how to build the motor correctly. I don't want to just slap some bolt ons and some nitrous and f@*k the motor up like a lot of these ricer punks do. You guys know how to build motors and don't just say you do. I like that about people w/ experience. I don't want to build a "ricer", I want to build an import and one that runs respectable times, ya know. Any comments or "consructive" critisism is welcome and appreciated. Thanx

Well H-T is the best place for good, real knowledge that i know of.
once u sift through the flames...(i don't usually flame) u can often find what you are looking for. also use search... cuz there are lots of thingsto be found in the archives

as for a non-ricer attitude, u couldn't have found better.
so good luck with ur project!

I never got a chance to blow my d15b in the short time i had it.
See, I learned how to drive stick on that thing 2. That motor can take anything I did to it, mis-shifts, over rev's, hit rev limit, 3rd gear grinds, Stall's etc. It was all stock and had 180,xxx miles on it.

I can actually say I liked it, even tho I downgraded from a 94 integra LS Auto.

In less then a year of having the car I have my first swap under my belt now.

"Long live the D15b's

Well, my buddy hooked up Zex to his d15b2 w/out the control jet (pure all out nitrous, non of that 55shot shiet ) and BOOM, his DPFI cover blew off. After that, his car sounded like a modded DSM. Just get an MPFI swap and it'll make up for the 50shot you're looking for. I saw a guy run his 91 DX with 55shots of Zex at the local track. His best time was 16.00. You could do that with bolt-ons and an MPFI swap easliy without poisoning your motor!

if you put nitrous on it, it will blow up. if not right away, it will eventually. you cant keep a stethoscope on the motor 24/7. nitrous finds the weakest point. on mine, it was the rings.

I had a buddy that had NOS brand nitrous on a V6 Mustang and used it like candy. He sprayed almost any chance he got. You know, the show-off type. Anywayz, his motor is just fine and he was running a 75 shot on it the whole time. He's been running it that way for over 2 years now. Never had any problems with it. So, as long as you keep good care of it and monitor it correctly and use it under safe conditions, it's not a bad thing to have on board. Anyone agree with me?

its better to be rich than lean with nitrous. i cranked up my fuel pressure on my regulator when i was sprayin. not too much though.

Hey! You guys gotta hear this! I just got off the phone w/ my boy Bullett, he threw away his dizzy last night cause some dude that lives in his complex said it was his cruise control box! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Sorry, just thought it was kinda funny. The thing is, he knows better than that. He's trying to strip his car down to nothing but the body and the motor, so he is getting rid of everything else that takes power away from the motor or the elecrical systems. The whole A/C unit, door panels, carpet, dash, etc. Somebody help this boy out, cause he won't listen to me.
