Default drop in gas mileage

Last week I filled up my tank and got 276 miles to the gallon in my ek. This week I filled it up and have only gotten 203 miles to the tank. I haven't drove any harder on the car and spent about the same percent of the miles on the highway/street. The only thing I can think of is my filter on the intake was dirty so I put on a new one. Could that have made such a big difference?

Damn you guys see 250 on a full tank? Ill only see that if im doing a road trip straight on with no stopping (then ill see anywhere between 250 and 300)

Anyway back to the thread, Have you checked your spark plugs to see if your running rich or anything? Also you havent been flooring it right? Its the same driving between both fill ups?

yeah just the air filter. I really don't think it should make that big of a change. its just the stock d16y7.
same driving and I had just changed the plugs before the first fill up.

i just tuned her up right before the first tank of gas. and the spark plugs were changed during that tune-up so even if they were gapped wrong it would have been the same for both tanks of gas. and the gas was the same octane both times.

i got the same probably with my h22a. I drive with every gas saving tip and regularly maintain my car and I still get 15 mpg less than the EPA.

did it get colder in your area in the last few days? That'll do it. I used to drop about 50 miles per tank in the winter compared to spring/summer. Denser air means more fuel gets pumped into your motor.

have you tried putting a new fuel filter on? Check the pressure in your tires too, low psi could hurt it. Also it could just be the gas, I know if I fill up with gas at this one station where I live I know I don't get the gas mileage out of their gas. I usually run 89 becuase I've gotten some crappy 87 before, and if I put 93 my car runs so good I wanna drive it hard and I don't get the mileage that way either. Another thing you could do is get some fuel injector cleaner and run it through in the gas tank and some throttle body cleaner to clean your tb really good.
