I have heard amazing things about the new line, the premier series. The one with the color display is beautiful too, but very expensive >.<. I'm still an Alpine man myself.

My friend has one of the newer panasonic hu(CQ-DFX983U), he says its great no mp3 lag loading time and etc.. but personally i think he has bad taste in hu. I have played with the HU it seems pretty good for the price, but comparing panasonic to alpine, IMO alpine kills it.. comparing that unit to a pioneer HU its probably in the same ball park but panasonic isn't really known for making anything too wild in the car audio department. Rather stick to alpine then get a HU and hope its a unit that will hold up.

i have the CQHR1003U headunit with the ghost display and i love it. It is a touch screen and is the best one i have played with. i've had it for almost a year and haven't had any problems except for having to wipe off fingerprints during the day. you can choose from 7 different display colors and in the menu you can set it to different shades of the color you want or it will scroll through them. It also has auxiliary rca inputs for your ps2, xbox, etc. I might have a biased opinion but a lot of people who ride with me really like it too. i don't know how to post pics but here is my car domain page http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/542791/2

They are pretty bullit proof decks. Back In '92 I owned a few and would sell
tons of them. They could read a disc in almost any condition.
I used to take a cd out of the unit, drop it on the industrial carpeted floor
scuff it with my foot, show the customer the damage, them put it in the various
units ( alpine.sony, blau, pio etc ) none could read it but the panasonic.
Then pana got showy ( almost cheesy in some cases) its still was a great unit.

So for the money Panasonic is pretty good.

ive had the older panasonic dvd player. kinda sucked though. the one which is black that plays dvd, mp3, tv, etc... is really good. these are the units ive had and i like the kenwood the best.

alpine cva-1000
panasonic (silver one)
kenwood kvt-900
kenwood kvt-911 *current*

personnal opinion, i would go with kenwood, alpine, or pioneer.

ive owned a panasonic, and am gonna buy another one soon. Next on my list is the Cqc-9800u, puts out 70x4 watts peak, and a whopping 60x4 watts rms. No company that i know of can beat that

yup he ain't kidding :

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-O...C9800

However, I don't think the 60 W RMS power can be very clean power at all. Doesn't have any specs at crutchfield about that. If it is, many amplifier companies would be out of business by now.

Just think about it

Well the deck just came out, so not many have messed with it yet i read a few reviews and its seems to be a nice deck, most powerfull deck ever produced. As for all u alpine lovers, i hate alpine. I work as a stereo installer and a buddy of mine that works with me bought our last alpine cda-9813 ($400 DECK) AND guess what it gives out no sound this is the 4th 9813 deck that i have seen do this, and as a customer i would be pissed if my 400 dollar deck doesnt work, plus i dont like alpines new production line, expect for their new mobile view in-dash screens

I rock the top of the line model for 2001 CQ-DF801U. 60x4w, three 5v(front/rear/sub) pre-outs, and an aux input. It's a solid player and looks pretty, not as pretty as the latest ones though. Although this models spectrum analyzer (the graphics for the sound spectrum shown in bars that go up and down) responds better than the new ones. The latest ones respond like utter crap. Good power, I run all speakers off it, sans the subwoofer. I like the fact that Bass Adjustment on the EQ does not effect bass on the sub and only the in car speakers, because I don't amp my speakers and therefore have no crossover. With the new ones Bass is adjusted with one setting for all speakers including the sub. This one has 2 crossover settings for the sub 80hz and 120hz. The new ones have 3 I believe, with more range of adjustment for the sub level. Here's some pics. EDIT: What's displayed on the front in watts is MAX not RMS. RMS is usually half, but it seems to be a little above that and clean I might add
