Just bought a new teg, should i wash/wax it now?
I bought a new teg the other day, it's never been waxed or anythign yet. Should i wash and wax it again? I guess using any meguairs' products will be fine.
How about the sponge used to wash the car? I just went to a cheapo store today and bought a cheap sponge. I'm just worried it might scratch the paint (swirls). This is my first car, i'm pretty dumb at this, so bear with me please
Umm, wash with two buckets.. one with soap one to rinse, wash with sponge and good brand washing stuff... rinse with hose regularly. Then after washing, dry with chamios? Then wax with chamois with meguiars wax?
What about polishing, my dealer said never to polish the car.
Any help/suggestions/comments would help.

if you bought it new, you should ask the dealer what they do to cars when they get sold. i know where i work, all we do is wash them and clean the wheels, inside, and windows, and tire dresser. if you paied for a detail, then it will be waxed along with other stuff.
it sounds like your doing it right, just rinse alot and wax the living crap out of it can never hurt .BTW Rain-X wax is pretty good if you have it over there.
oh meguairs is a fine company trust thier stuff

Take the sponge, and use it for washing dishes, nothing else. A sponge is designed to suck up water and dirt. You want water on your paint while cleaning it, you don't want any dirt or debris and material while you are moving it around on paint, that's why a sponge is the worst product for car care. Here is what to do...
1. Two buckets, one rinse bucket, one soap bucket.
2. Wash with %100 cotton wash mit, rinse freqently.
3. Use only forward and back motion.
4. Do one section of car at a time, such as hood, then rinse.
5. When drying use %100 cotton towels, start with windows first, so you don't get water spots.
6. When dry, wax with, agian, a %100 cotton cloth, or buffer. Use back and forth motion - circular will create swirl marks. Don't ever wash car in sun, evaporates water, then increases chances of swirl marks.
7. Towels used can be washed in dryer, but, w/o dryer sheets!
I use products by Meguiar's, mainly #7 polish, and #26 wax! You don't need to polish your car for at least 1 year, it is a brand new car, doesn't need to be polished! Hope this helps... Look at my car in the URL in my sig. That paint is 11 years old... Does it look that way - nope!
