Default Car stereo upgrade question in dc5

Gotta base Dc5. I just got a 10, and amp, and will be gettin a new head unit. How do you take out the stock head unit? The things looks solid as hell and i dont see any bolts or screws to get it started. Obvisouly theres plastic and **** you gotta pop out but which? Anyone upgrade their stereo on their own? Info would be helpful cause i wanna know what im doin before i start tearin **** up in a 22k car.

go to clubrsx.com they have instructions how to do an install...it's fairly easy have to take the cover off where the accessory 12v plug is and then there's screws under there that holds the head unit in..

Yeah, I got a pioneer head unit and what not. I assume you're talking about the stereo. All you have to do is use a flat tip screw driver along the sides of the stereo and pop it out. It's pretty easy. Now, the front door speakers are a little different though, more difficult that is.

first take off the panel that has the cig lighter. try not to use any metal tools on that. u should be able to get it with just your fingers and pull evenly (yet hard)

then take a 10mm ( i think) socket and take off the two bolts that are underneath.

then put on some work gloves and reach in there and pull "out" there are 4 clips holding the headunit in. top left, bottom left, bottom right and top right (near the flashers) the top right one is the most bitchy and you will want to be extra careful or you'll crack your faceplate.

good luck

oh wait..you have a base. scratch that entire paragraph. it's easier on a base. there's still those 2 bolts but you have more room to work with when pulling it out so doubtful you'll crack your faceplate. even if you do, a scoche one is only like $10.

Ya thats what i figured, the plastic with the power outlit and then gettin at it from behind. still though anyone got some advice on how to run the wires to the rear (the clean way). i figured i'll just run em under the carpet. i have to pull a lot of stuff up to do it but this aint no ford ranger ( former vehicle) so i wanna do it right and dont expect it to be easy. thanks a mil on the the head unit dilema guys.

got it done today. sounds sweet, hits clean. thanks for the input guys. no surprise though my inpatience, luck, and stupidy cost me a nasty dent and scratch (4" x 8" roughly) on my right rear fender and bumper region. Mom's corrolla has one matching on the back left fender and door region. F&%#!!! oh well, atleast i have my base.
