Default Polished and waxed the SI today, many pics.....

Figured this would be the last chance I got to do so in a while so I did a nice polish and wax on the SI. It wasn't in bad shape at all but figured I would get it all nice for the summer.

Before:

Dirty, before wash.

Still before wash.

And before I could wash it rains. Wonderful Oregon weather. Not bad for over 2 months on a coat of S100.

Washed, dried, and taped up for polishing.

After wash, wash with Dawn, Meg's swirl free polish #82, Vanilla Moose hand glaze, and Meg's NXT.

And of course it started raining while I was taking the after pics.

A couple few hours but I took a few breaks and didn't work real hard at it cause I had the time. If I was in a hurry I could probably do it in just under 2 hours.

Something like that. This piece of property is only 17 acres but my parents have a house on it and my wife and I have one next to it. We used to raise purebred cattle but my dad retired again and sold off the heard. Now most the land is Xmas trees, just planted another 8000 of them or so a couple weeks ago.

Dawn dishwashing soap. You know, the one people say not to use cause it strips your wax and such. I use it before a polish/wax cause it strips all the old wax off and makes it a little easier to polish.

So can you explain your process when using the Dawn?
Also, it's safe for the paint and only strips the wax?

I plan on doing this soon

And what were your thoughts of the NXT?

Nice process! looks real nice. although do you have a hard time staying on the paint when detailing your car? Just curious because you taped it up, if it works more power to you! I dunno, maybe its becaue i have been detailing cars since i was like 12. Either way it looks great, i am considering trying Dawn the next time i plan on detailing my truck!

Takes 10 minutes to tape up the car. Takes an hour at least to clean wax/compound off all the rubber. No matter how hard I try I always bump the rubber so I just make it easy by taping it. If it was a simple once over wax job by hand it probably wouldn't be as much of a problem but 3 steps with a PC, you will hit the rubber.

hey thats a good idea about taping the rubber off b4 waxing. I always end up with a toothbrush scrubbin the hell out of the dried wax on the rubber pieces.
