Your opinions on Honda OEM oil filters vs. aftermarket ones
I was on another Honda board and they were discussing the quality of Honda filters vs. aftermarket ones. It seems that FRAM has a bad rap. What are your thoughts on the various brands that are out there like Puralator, NAPA, FRAM, etc..?
I highly prefer the Honda filter- If you really want to now the difference- cut them apart- you'll see. Most other filters have paper thin casings- like valvoline instant oil leak uses. They put them on super tight and when you try to remove them- they crush and leak all over your shoulder. Bastards!!! Also note, the Honda filters from Canada are really light- like they didn't put something in them- I haven't figured that one out yet. As for most parts for your Honda- only use HONDA parts- I can not stress this enough.
true-true...honda filters is prefrable, but da price at da dealers iz ludicrous after a while...*****' add up
go to manchester honda they got a package deal for 10genuine oil filters for $40

I use Mobil 1. There was a link somewhere that showed a test of all the filters cut apart. Most are all Fram or Purolator. Mobil 1 was the best of the test. I will look around for the link.

i always use WIX... for my oil and tranny filters. gf's dad owns an auto parts store, he used to sell FRAM stuff but he says wix is the best one out right now.
I use Mobile 1 synthetic oil religiously, But the filters are just too damn expensive. Locally around here they go for 12 bucks a pop. The oil is already expensive enough so I just stick with Honda Filters. Might switch to HAMP, but I forgot how much those go for.

ANyone tried those K&N oil filters? Ive been using those for the past few oil changes and noticed considerably less crap in the oil when drained when compared to the Honda filters.

I use Castrol Max Pro Plus. It runs 5 bucks and claims 50% more particle filtration than leading competitor. I'm sure it's as good as the mobil 1 filter or the OEM filter. Mabey I'll cut the 2 apart to compare.
I bought a **** load of honda filters awhile back cause i had a discount coupon. Before I always used Fram, but when I put an OEM
filter in my car just seemed to run better
, I dunno if it's cause of the filter, or just doing a regular oil change ( I change my oil at regular intervals )

I perfer the honda filter just because when you grab it with the filter pliers they dont smash at all like most aftermarket filters.
Fram=****
Do not use fram filters!!!!
They are cheap for a reason.

Shoooot, Honda always charges me for those washers. They dont come with the filters (well not for me anyway). Like 27 cents or something.
Well, here's some real info. On the same line as the other oil filter study, but it looks at Honda OEM filters as well.

Damn Canadians- I figured as much. A really good article. Japanese Hondas do come with Toyo Roki filters and the Filtech is much heavier than the Canadian. Thanks Dirty.

I bought a couple of Honda OEM filters and they cost me about 4 bucks and some change each. I get them at my local Acura dealer.
