I have a friend who works for Honda who says that with a lot of static, they CAN go off unplugged. The reason why I asked him this was because I replaced my stock Civic wheel with a different wheel and wondered the same thing.

Anyhow, he said that I shouldn't worry too much as long as I keep it in a relatively safe place and away from anything that emits or conducts static electricity. I think for the most part you should be fine. Oh, and he also said not to store it lying face down cause it delivers enough force to shoot the wheel into the air or at your face. (I said that he's seen that before...well not shot at the face, but in the air.)

is the airbag driven by a electrical signal and is it pressureized? i mean if i take the cover off the passenger side air bag(dash board) will it shoot out or does it need a electrical signal to drive the air bag out?

yes it is an electrical signal that sets it off. it all starts with a connection in the arming switch under your hood. pressurized? the air? its more like an explosion that fills the bag up

to be safe disconnect your battery for like 30 minutes and do whatever you want.
even remove the fuse, iunno

i am almost positive that the instant you disconnect it, a honda's srs will not work. however other makes like BMW and VOLVO have it worked out so it can still operate after like 15 minutes of no battery power.

I need to watch myself when I remove the passenger airbag for the track. I'd rather it not go off when removing/reinstalling it. What did you do? Remove the battery cables?

Since you got it out you should hook some wires to it and set it off.
Didn't somebody do that on here and have a video of it?
