Spray paint powder coating??
I seem to recall reading about this on this site or maybe another. Some paint manufacturer makes a spray paint which when applied gives the look of a powder coated finish.
Does anyone know about this? If so, can you help direct me where to find this stuff.
I have an old car amplifier which came power coated but a few spots have started to chip off. I just want to touch it up....doesn't have to be perfect. I don't wan't to pay to get it professionally done.
Thanks,
Carl

powdercoating doesnt look any different then regular paint, its just alot more duarable, and doesnt chip, so that why it cost more and people powdercoat there wheels
also you cant spray on powder coat and havbe it be the same, im pretty sure they bake the pieces they powder coat thats what makes them so strong
I am well aware of the process that goes into power coating something. That is exactly why I am interested in finding this product again. Obviously it is not power coating in the true sense of the word. But, as long as it gives the appearence then its good enough.
Actually, when I said powder coating....I had in my mind the power coating you find on many Honda / Acura valve covers. That is exactly what this amplifier looks and feels like.
It is a Rockford Fosgate H1100a2 (or Power 1100a2). It is from Rockford's 2000 or 2001 product line.

The amplifier is for sale by the way....if anyone is interested.

Vavle covers are not power coated huh? Ahhh.....learn something every day. I thought that finish was due to powder coating. Anyway....where can I find this "krinkle" paint from VHT? I looked it up on google, but only found a few message boards talking about applying it.
Thanks!
Carl

yeah that stuff is krinkle paint from VHT or wrinkle paint from everyone else, powdercoating looks just like reg paint, shinney and smooth0
Powder is the same thing as paint except it, goes on in a different method, requires curing, and goes on in a thicker millage/non pourous (thats why its so durable). It has other little tweaks aswell but nothing drastic. Powders come in metallics, textures and thousands upon thousands of other variances. Most powder manufactures even sell liquid paint to match the color of powder coating for spot repairs.
