DIY - Polished Lip (Do you clearcoat the lip as well)
Just asking this question before I go to school
I sanded for about 6 hours last night to get the lip on my slipstreams perfect.
Hands are dead and hurt like hell but they look sick.
I still have to paint them toight. I already taped off the lip and left the rest of the rim for paint. There going to be gunmetal.
After I paint it gunmetal do I take the tape off and clearcoat the whole rims or just clearcoat the inside of the rim and leave the tape on?

i would clearcoat the whole wheel. remove all the tape and only tape the valve stem if you'd like. make sure everything is clean and oil-free. im sure this will help keep the lip polished at all times, just make sure to give it a couple good coats.
If you are clear coating your rims, make sure you do a very light coat with the clear coat paint. this is all you need to protect it. If you do heavy/lots of coats you will loose the polished look with every coat. If you dont want to clear coat the lip them just hit them with a good wax every month or so.
