Default VAFC instead of AEM EMS for JRSC?

The EMS is over a 1000 while the VAFC is around 200-300. I was thinking of having it tuned on a dyno to. You guys think the VAFC would do the job okay or should i dish out the money for the EMS? Like I said I plan to put it on the dyno either way. Its my daily driver that will be on 6psi.

My tuner doesnt use Hondata. Plus since my car is OBDII I would have to buy the Hondata s200 which is made for boost and an OBDII converter. This would end up costing about 850 vs. 200 bucks for a VAFC.

As I understand it, the VAFC is only good for low amounts of boost. Anything over ~12 psi you need a standalone such as hondata, AEM etc because the VAFC can only richen it up so much...

I dont plan on running over 6psi. Just trying to see if its worth running the EMS or if the VAFC is safe enough.

You are comparing apples to oranges. How would you use the vafc? Along with the JR management? Or toss the JR management and use larger injectors and the afc hack? Use the hack, and you'll need some way of retarding timing for boost, like an MSD BTM. The AEM EMS will be a much more flexible platform, giving you much more control over fuel and ignition, but is a lot more expensive and will require a lot of tuning.

So do you think the EMS is worth its value for my particular application?

The hack methold is very useful for starting out. But it does have it limits when it comes it taking away fuel. Since it will not added fuel i would recommend a standalone over the vafc. I had the hack on my car. It worked good for 7 psi, but It would have been better to use a standalone. With the hack you are also limited to size of fuel injectors you use. I heard anything over 440's and it would be useless. That is why it works well with low boost applications.

EMS is always worth it

my theory is if you're boosting, why not protect your investment and invest in a good, reliable engine management system.
