Drag Strip Time
Hey guys just got back from the drag strip tonight 1/8 mile.....Not very pleased with results. My setup is h23 with t3/t4 turbo, spearco fmi, greddy bov, open downpipe, deltagate wg, dsm 450cc, safc, aem fuel rail, aem fpr, walbro intank.
I have never ran my car on the strip with the turbo so i was trying to learn how to drive it with the turbo. Only got 3 runs in. Using crappy no name tires also.
First run= 10.6 at 73 mph RT .455 60' 2.6
Second Run= 9.8 at 74 mph RT .388 60' 2.3
Thrid Run= 9.9 at 73 mph RT .253 60' 2.3
What am I doing wrong? I know the first time I reved up way to high and spun nearly the entire track. Second time only reved to about 2000 rpms.
3rd Time reved up to 5000 rpms. I know my car can do better this I just need to learn how to drive it right.....any pointers??? all help is appreciated!

your gonna need to get some tires....the times are pretty slow...someone that runs a 10 in the 1/8 runs a 15 at the1/4...just get some nice tires that hook up and your gonna be putting some nice numbers....
yup get tires. if you can't afford slicks just get drag radials and you'll be fine. also turbo cars do better in the 1/4 than in the 1/8 simply because n/a cars get off the line quicker, and your turbo has to spool. but the main reason is the tires and possibly your driving. no offense.
also the most important part of racing at the track is how good your start is off the line or how well you hook up off the line. especially the 1/8th.

yeah i know tires were def. an issue and no offense taken, i am relearning how to drive this thing with the turbo.
i plan on making many runs this sunday and hopefully will figure it out. thanks for the replies.

i saw you there last night. you definatly seem to have some tuning issues. your mph is pretty low for your set up. i would get hondata or aem ems and have it tuned. 450 cc inj. dont work well on a stock ecm. your ecm needs to be calibrated for that size. i wouldnt be worried about your times. better driving comes with a lot of practice. you should be paying more attention to your mph, that displays the type of power you are making.
good luck though. its nice to see a lude out there every once in a while.

How many lbs. of boost you running? Go get it tuned if its not!</TD></TR></TABLE>
yes but he also said he's not getting any traction,
from a roll he'd probably rape most h22's w/bolt ons
i would definately start saving for a better engine
management system though

First of all, your 60 ft times suck. They are about .4-.5 sec higher then they should be. Bottom line- you need slicks, 22x7.5x15s and practice launching. I do have a pair of micky T slicks in these sizes mounted on stock sawblade rims if you are interested in purchasing them.
Second of all, I am assuming you are running the afc-hack completely untuned. This is HORRIBLE for a motor. Not only will it run like complete ****, but you are introducing the motor to detonation city. And just a little fyi, you can do so running a stock ecu. Tons of people on the board do so. I do recommend an EMS but the hack is better then running a FMU which increases your fuel pressures out of the ***. I will be in the clemson/gville area for the next 2 weeks so if you want to have the motor properly tuned and setup, get a hold of me. We will head to a dyno and take care of your tuning problems.
Third of all, don't bother running an open downpipe. Sure you are decreasing your backpressure by huge amounts but by doing so you will need minor tuning to get the full benifit by doing so.
Finally, 3 years ago when my motor was stock running the drag gen 2 turbo kit with those micky t slicks (ran only 5 passes total ever on these tires by the way), tanabe exhaust, and aem pulleys I managed to hit a 8.80 out at Greer. My 60ft times were 1.83 as well... pretty damn good for a prelude and I attribute those times to the slicks by the way. I do believe I was the first honda to break 8's out there
That was 3 years ago though... running 7's is where it's at now.
