Default Fuel Additives for "Increase Performance"... Opinions???

I always see these STP things like Octane Boosters and Performance Boosters, along with sorts of Engine Treatments etc. They all claim to increase gas mileage, horsepower, engine life, etc. so I assume they are all pretty much the same thing or at least all don't work, either way; Anyone have any opinions on them?

I assume everyone is going to hop out and say they are the devil and bad for your engine's seals because back in the day when I was a Mazda guy everyone on the Mazda boards would say that, but hey I wouldn't mind hearing some opinions.

Octane boosters found at the auto parts store dont even increase the octane 1 point. So dumping a can into a tank of 91 isnt going to get you 92. The most i can see it doing is cleaning your injectors if they are dirty. I heard "octane boosters" also foul spark plugs easily, dunno about that.
