Default ghetto paint ek's

Does anyone have any pics of their ghetto paint jobs on EK's? The paint on my car is slowly going to ****, and i've always kinda liked the flat/satin finish paint jobs. I was thinking about doing this to my car just until i can get a good paint job when I'm out of college and have a good job. My buddy has a large compressor and a paint gun, so i could probably use that and do it fairly correctly, just wondering how it would look on an ek. The closest i've seen was HALO's camo job.

but i want black like the new skunk2 ep3

you just buy a NON GLOSS paint, and a NON or low gloss clear coat. then you probably paint it like anything else.

i'm not a huge fan of the rattle can job myself. I'd prefer something that looks pretty professional, however i don't have the $$ for a pro job. I do have a friend like is said with a spray gun and such, so it woudl be atleast better than rattle can.

UPDATE: I found that House of Kolor makes an additive for clear coats that actually creates a more satin/flat finish. This way you still have the protection of the clear but the look of a satin finish. I believe this is what they would have used on the skunk2 car.

yea house of kolors makes a flattener or flattening agent that you add to clear coat. you can use that clear coat on ANY color you want to achieve a low/no gloss finish.

im very into flat black/satin black paint jobs and am going to rattle can my car soon, but i'll be doing some minor body work and sanding the paint as i spray it... i want to achieve a good job with the rattle can, if its even possible.

and the john deere blitz black paint is used by some hot rodders (the ones who know about it). search on google for the JDBB and you'll find a hot rod forum thread.

good luck!!!

hrrrmmm.... i may try and grab a spray can of the stuff to see how it looks. Does anyone know if taking paint to a place like macco or similar would reduce the price because i surely wouldnt use any 2 step paint or even close to the expensive factory paint. that JDBB is cheap as hell!

you might as well grab the phone and call your local Maaco. Call a couple too, some places are better/nicer than others. You can also look for some cheap body shops around that are willing to do it. ****, find a hot rod shop or something to that effect and ask them.

Good luck

my beater is a da, and we did a whole bunch of body work on it and then got a bunch of flat black form wal-mart, sanded the whole car down, thinnered the whole car, than taped up everything, took out lights, etc, then went at it. I ****** love it. Will take pics this weekend and post up monday.

Not to get off topic.....but was that pic taken in Mid-Town Sac? Looks like the back of a building I lived right by.

OT: The flat black jobs look awesome...but then again, I'm a hot-rodder trapped in a civic.
