Tire rack
So I am planning to build a tire rack for the garage to hold all the tires Jen and I have. I need to be able to hold at least three sets of tires. I was also thinking of putting several shelves on top as well. I was wanting to see what some of you have come up with.
Thanks,
Eric

Walt (at Delta Group Motorsports) created these for me a year ago. They work great and the upside is I got back a significant amount of floor space (and they take up less space from the wall than sitting on a shelf type rack). Just put some little rubber stoppers on the ends (think it was 3/8" round and 1/8" metal stripping from Home Depot).

I did a home made tire rack out of 2x4 lumber in a little alcove in my garage that holds just about 20 tires. It took about half an hour even with my very limited wood capabilties (like only a sabre saw)and it is amazing how difference a little organization can do. I'll get a pic tonight and post it. Couldn't be easier.
Edit: Will have to try for tomorrow night for the pics. The wife is having trouble getting pics from the cool new Nikon into the computer. You can see them on the television if you want to come over to the house but then you could see the rack in person. I should be able to get pics tomorrow night. Sorry.

I like Phatty's racks. I like mine too. Cost about $80 and quite easy to put together, since everything is bolt-together and adjustable. Garage door angle brackets are the expensive parts. U-bolts, 1" conduit, porch swing chain, lag bolts, and bolts&nuts are the rest of the pieces. Only fab work required was use of a sawzall - no hole drilling required!

Hmm, I am liking whitney's. I may have to re-think my plan. The cool thing about it is I could make some shelves with that set up as well. And it is fully adjustable. I had been considering something like this, but I did not see any of the angle iron brackets when i was looking. Now that I know what to look for that is great. Keep the ideas coming.
