I found this on another board:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">It appears that the ring landings on the pistons failed. This is what caused the dip stick to pop out and flood the engine bay/track with oil (sorry about that, heh)

After dropping the pan and removing the oil pump shim (we initially suspected excessive oil pressure to be the issue), we started her back up. We got exhaust smoke from the crank case. Hrmm, that's not good. Pulled the plugs, hrmm that looks like motor oil on there, not good either. After finding a compression tester, we confirmed it. 280-150-80-120. After some thought and conversation is appears to be the ring landings.

The interesting thing is, this is the only H22 'weak link' that I allowed through on the engine build. I addressed the rods, the oil pump, the balancers, etc. I *Knew* about the weak ringlanding issues, but I didn't think it'd be an issue with my engine. I don't think I'd make that much power hahah. I was wrong.

So for those that didn't hear, before she went, she put 230/178 to the wheels.

So what's next? Well it was too dang fun to just scrap the project, so we are going to eliminate the last weak link of the engine. I'll get the block sleeved and put some rollerwaves in there. Maybe bump the CR up a bit and hit 240 at the wheels.

HTD #6 Here I come!!!!

:-)
Jeff

P.S. - We just got home (2P Sat). Hope you got home ok last night Bloobin. Glad we were able to fix your ride up. Let me know if you want that JDM front end hahah j/k

P.P.S. - You guys better bring your own spare parts next year because Spanky isn't going to break three times in a row!~
